Disappearing trees
Hi, when I am deleting trees from my savegame I have noticed that when I go in game additional trees have been deleted, usually in clumps. If someone knows a reason for this it would be appreciated.
Re: Disappearing trees
What do you mean by "deleting trees from my savegame"? What are the steps you are doing to accomplish this?
Here is one way trees get messed up with an existing save game:
1) Load the map cut a block of trees to see the following effect then save your game.
2) Open the map in Giants Editor and delete a set of trees.
3) Load map and somewhere on that map trees are not what you expect, most of the time the trees you cut have regrown unexpectedly.
Each tree has an ID number such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc.
The save game saves all the trees and their cut status using the ID number.
When you edit the map it saves the scene graph IDs in order.
So when you delete tree 2 and 3 from the list it shifts 4,5,6 to 2,3,4 but your save game still thinks 1,2,3,4,5,6 still exists.
This shift makes the trees look like they have regrown or others to disappear. It is most noticeable with the regrown issue because you know all the land is suppose to be empty.

Thanks, that explains it, In giants editor I removed trees I had previously cut down so I could see the terrain better.
