How to copy a base game vehicles for modding

Post by jah6575 »

I was going to try and modify the base game animal trailer to haul chickens. Never done this type of mod before so was wondering how I get access to a base game vehicle. I couldn’t find the path in my game folder to even get started. Any thoughts? I am using the steam version.

Giants Editor allows you to create a mod from the game.

I gave that a try, create a mod from the game, put it in the mod folder, but it won't show up in the game, doesn't show up in the mods selection before the game starts. So how do you make the created mod show up in the game?

Any of you gentlemen feel like modifying the large Great Plains planter to do corn/sunflower/sugar beet and then submitting the mod to the hub for us poor console users? :smileynew:

Giants confirmed they will not be fixing this despite 15 threads in the bug reports on both english and german forums of people wanting this changed.

Pretty sure someone will do one :), but I doubt even if a modder did Giants would accept it for consoles as it would be an edit of their models.

I've seen that "Custom Modding" have already done one, and corrected an issue that the in-game one apparently has. But screw Giants if they don't like it... they should of done it themselves then

Giants as far as I am ware can only make models that exist in real world.

This is the issue everyone is having... This planter in real life comes from the factory to do corn... For some reason Giants took that away... So in this case Giants has not designed a model that exists in the real world

Alright guys. I need some help again. I have used Giants editor to copy the in game betimax trailer. I made the icon and store icon dds files. I then modified the trailer xml file by adding a line after the cows copying the cow line, removing the cow from the new line and replacing it with chicken. And capacity of 20. I modified the modDesc xml that Giants editor created for me by using one of Giants modhub mods as a reference. Activate developer mode in game and load the game. My mod isn’t showing up in the downloaded section and when activate developer mode in the game it says error loading my mod because it doesn’t have a mod desc version. I checked again and everything looks ok to me.

I have been playing with altering base game vehicles lately again, with success this time. Though I don’t know how to use blender at this point so I can’t make my own 3d models yet. I think the planter issue can be fixed with a simple edit, while we can’t do that on console I have been looking at this as well on my to do list. Now that I’m done messing around with balers and skid steers, I think I’m going to try to remedy this issue for us. However even though I have done mods in the past, each time I had them kicked back at least once, and they still have about 200 mods under testing, so even if I can get this done by next weekend and working, it might be a month or more before it hits modhub.

I wouldn't worry about it. It has since been updated in the most recent patch to include corn. Thanks though.
