Map Question - Buy-able Area?

I started playing a map which will remain nameless out of respect for the author. The map has meadow areas, but they can't be accessed (mowed), nor can they be purchased, so there sits all this grass / hay going to waste. All the fields have hardly any headlands, so there just any grass to be mowed from fields that you own. :?:
1. I'm wondering what I would need to do in GE, and or the maps xml to either make the meadows accessible to mow, or make these areas purchasable?

That depends. Why are they not accessible?
If it's just a fenced off area, you can simply delete parts of the fences.

If it's an area that isn't buyable (at all), then you'll need to add them as buyable areas. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with how to do that.
While we wait, you could load up the map and see if you can buy these areas. Maybe send a message to the modder requesting that feature for their next version.

They are not fenced off, and they can't be bought. They are just no-mans land. You can't farm, mow, etc any land in 19 that you don't own.

Search terms for You Tube that might help ... "FS19 editor fields"

Then you'll need to either add the buyable areas or request the modder to do so.
Again, not sure how as I've never tried.

My understanding however is that with FS19 fields are different from buyable areas. The fields can be marked in Giants editor using transform groups.
I believe buyable areas however use an external file, like a texture mask or similar.

Hi, open the map with the editor. On the top toolbar select "Terrain info layer paint mode" (the blue brush with an i). Scroll down in the terrain editing window to the "Info Layer Painting" panel and select an info layer of "farmland". All of the different colors in the 3D viewport are the farmlands. In the game when you purchase lands you buy all of the area with the color. The white color around the edge of the map is the un-buyable land that has a layer value of 63 (Info Channels 0 1 2 3 4 5 selected). If you hover the mouse courser over an area in the 3D viewport and press ctrl r it will select the info channels of that area and it should be highlighted in bright white.

My recommendation would be to select each of the areas next to the grass you want to cut and paint the farmlands info channel to extend those areas to cover that grass. Just click and hold the left mouse button and drag it over the area to paint it. The when you buy that area in the game you will be able to harvest the grass. It will be more expensive since you are buying a larger area.

Alternatively you could paint a new layer value over the grass areas and purchase them separately. The price and ownership of the farmlands is set in the file mapUS_famlands.xml (for the Ravenport base map). If you paint a new layer value you will need to add a line for it in the farmlands.xml file. The layer value is the id #.

HootMT,

Thank you for your help, I went with your recommendation, and I believe I have connected the grass areas to buy-able land next to them. I have not launched my game yet with the new edit.
Question, are these changes going to require a new save game / career?

I do not see anything in the savegame folder that keeps track of the farmland info layer so the changes should be in your savegame but I have not tested it. The savegame file farmland.xml keeps track of the ownership. It will be farmId="1" if you have bought that land already. Keep in mind that the farmland id="#" is not the same as the field number. It is the id # from the mapUS_farmlands.xml and the layer value for that info layer.

Thank you kind Sir,

It worked like a charm test mowed a couple of spots, and no need for a new save game / career.
