Patch 1.3 Disaster

Half of my 3rd party maps will not launch, they are requiring a New Savegame, what did Giant do? ? ?

I have a ton of hours into developing the MI map, I had it under (2) different saved games, neither one will launch without start a new save game.

Yes, I have some of the same problems. When I start the game on the map I am using, it puts me in the house, and then I can't move at all. I try and pull up the map, and after trying a few times, it finally works, but I can't move the map at all, or scroll in and out and freezes. It is as though the key board settings are all messed up and none of them work at all now. This isn't good at all.

I had the same issue on one of my maps, stuck in one position, PDA is blown out, game is basically froze.

I may be wrong, but here is what I think the deal is, any map that I used the in-game sculpting / painting on before the 1.3 patch, will no longer run without starting a new game. Maps that I did not use it will launched from their saved game.

The painting issue isn't it. Using a molded map myself and that works fine in 1.3.
Modded maps will need an update to use the grass feature. Possibly a mod is causing your issues as they might also need updating.
Were either of you using the 1.3 beta ?

On a side note, the author of Michigan has been waiting to release an updated map when 1.3 dropped.

Just saw his latest fb post and he confirmed the patch broke a lot of things on the map. He is fixing it so hopefully you should be ok when he releases it.

MI map runs fine if you start a new game, I have (3) hours on it tonight, and not one issue. Stuff might have broke with the patch, but there are lot people have similar issues, too many for new patch. I even have vanilla maps that have been edited, that will NOT run from their saved games.

I still run 1.2 i tried the beta 1.3 and the game itself was totally messed up. I took out all my mods even and started new games and the thing was still buggy. Every time I went to purchase land the map would go wacky on me and i couldn't exit it at all. Had to delete and reinstall the complete game over.

This will fix most map painting textures issues, you have to go the maps xml file, find the line containing...<groundTypeMappings>.

Three of the maps that would not launch from my save game, now work after I replaced these lines. There is lot going on in a map, so it may have other issues, and you would have to wait for a map update from the author, there have been several map updates already today.

delete the lines between <groundTypeMappings>, and replace with these, so it should look like this...

^ only do this if you know how these mappings work. A lot of mod maps do not utilize all of them and it appears your list is missing a few standard ones.

The rule of thumb is, if you are making any changes that you know may not work, you "always" Back Up your original files.
