My dream is coming true.
I'm working on a tool in Houdini where you can
- import DEM from your map
- Create curve(s) to create roads
- Road mesh is created and UV mapped
- The curve for the road will adapt to the terrain - and the terrain will adapt to the curve
- Export road mesh and DEM
The DEM export will overwrite the DEM file inside the map, so that's a simple "refresh" inside GE to see the changes made.
The road mesh might have to go through some optimizing of the UV's in order to work well with tiled road textures.
