FS17 Won't Update past 1.2.0

Post by oliverdragon »

Hello,

Can someone please help me, I am out of ideas?

I am on a Windows 7 64-bit desktop computer with 16 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 950 2GB video card.
I use the latest version of Firefox 32-bit, which I always keep up to date.
I never use download managers or download helper addons.

I have the non-steam digital PC version of Farming Simulator 17 installed, and I can not get it to update past 1.2.0. It runs just fine on version 1.2.0, but I can't get any patch installation EXE files to run.

I go to the following URL to download the update patch installation EXE file.
http://www.farming-simulator.com/update ... country=us

Whenever I run a patch installation EXE file, it always gives me a bunch of error messages that say that the source file is corrupted, (see the attached zip file that contains three images). It throws the errors on PDFs, DDS files, and shapes files. Then I have to abort the patch installation and then the game no longer runs, so then I have to re-install the game version 1.2.0 to fix everything.

I have even tried downloading a patch installation EXE file again, but it still always fails.
I have even tried running a patch installation EXE file again right after the first time failed, but it still always fails.
I have even disabled my Comodo Internet Security's Antivirus and Firewall, while I downloaded the patch update file, but it still always fails.

These are all of the files that I have downloaded and all of them have failed.
I renamed them a little bit so that they will order correctly in their folder.

I believe you can re-download the latest version of the game from Giants. That should bypass the need for patching it - the version on the Giants download portal should be 1.4.2. All you should need to do is go to the portal and enter your key.

I've got the steam edition mind you, so I've never had to try this myself.

Are you sure that you have Adminrights on your Windows usr account?
It can be true that Windows blocked all exe files from Internet.
So you have to be sure that will be allowed for the Patch or other Programs.

In the Settings of your Security Software set to allowed the EXE Files from Internet.

Borealis thank you,
I tried your suggestion, and I downloaded the game again from the Giants download portal, but it came with version 1.3.1. Then I uninstalled the game, and re-installed the game using this new EXE file. So, now I have FS17 version 1.3.1 installed and working correctly.

Then I tried running Patch 1.4.0, but it failed on the same file. Then I tried running Patch 1.4.2, but it failed on the same file. So, I had to re-install the game with version 1.3.1.

böserlöwe thank you,
Yes, my Windows user account is an Admin, I am the only one that uses it.
No, my Comodo is not blocking EXE files, I can download other ones just fine.
When I run the Patch EXEs, Comodo pops up a message asking what I want to do with this file, and I tell it to allow and trust the file.

I figured out my problem last night.

I normally use Firefox to download everything, so I decided to try a different browser.

I opened Internet Explorer 11 and downloaded the patch installation EXE file version 1.4.2, from the link below, for a third time.
http://www.farming-simulator.com/update ... country=us
Then I ran the file, and it WORKED this time. My Farming Simulator 17 is finally updated from 1.3.1 to 1.4.2.

I don't know why Firefox doesn't like these patch installation EXE files for Farming Simulator 17.
Firefox didn't have any trouble with the patch installation EXE files for Farming Simulator 15.
