Hi, we have 2 computers, both with FS17 on them we are looking for a better way to play multiplayer?
We currently use the online multiplayer via our wifi, but we have issues with glitches and delays in the graphics, is there a way of directly connecting them together for multiplayer like LAN?
If so how do you setup a LAN connection!?!
Thanks !

Re: Multiplayer LAN set up
LAN connection is like a phone line connection, which most computers don't have, especially laptops. Do you have desktop or Laptop computers? Desktops will most likely have a phone line connector.
Re: Multiplayer LAN set up
If you have an Laptop, buy a LAN cable and connect your computer directly with your router. Switch of wifi. Now try multiplay. If you have no more issues, your aim ist to connect your computers by wire to the router - see below. If you still have issues try another multiplay, preferable with a dedi server. Still issues: your internet connection is to slow at all. Do not proceed to the solutions below, LAN will not help you.
First solution for LAN: buy two suffciently long cables and connect your computers to the router (if it has enough LAN ports availabel). Main issue: cables lying around. If you can hide the cable: Best solution.
Second: Use just one cable from the router to a switch (you have to buy one), to which you can connect your computers. Main issue: still one long cable (if you can hide it: perfect). Your computers have to be quite close to the switch else you have three long cables.
Third: Buy two powerlan adapters, at least one should have two LAN-Ports. Connect one to your router and a socket. Connect the other with a socket. Connect your computers with the second powerlan adapter (should have two LAN-ports - remember?). Game on. If you do have the computers in different rooms, you might use three powerlan adapter. BIG issue: Most expensive AND MIGHT NOT WORK AT ALL, as powerlan adapter do not work in every household. And you have to have enough free sockets.
If you know someone who has some powerline adapters to lent you, try this solution before installing it!!!
Hope this was helpfull. Sorry for my english. And if you know someone with sound computer (LAN) knowledge ask him first to help you, as there might be a lot of problems while installing your LAN. And as you had to ask how to install a LAN. Yes ... begin to pray.
And if I were wrong and you play multiplayer just between your two computers, with one as a server. First be sure the "server" has enough computing power. Else LAN will solve nothing. Buy a crosslink cable and connect your computers with the cable. Might work. Else: Buy a switch. Connect your computers with it. Should work. If not ... pray.

LS17, what else?
Re: Multiplayer LAN set up
Phone line is RJ11, LAN is RJ45. Most if not all computers will have a LAN port and it was a lot more common for a desktop to have LAN connection and no wifi.JohnDeere318 wrote:LAN connection is like a phone line connection, which most computers don't have, especially laptops. When you click "create game" your game will be registered on Giants multiplayer server
everyone trying to connect to your game will have to go through the giants server to connect to your game
If your problem is your wifi then, yes it will help to connect directly to your router via. cable.
If the problem is your internet connection then you won't be able to solve it by changing the way you connect to your router
