Storage space on ps4

Hi, I remember reading somewhere, not sure where, that the storage for downloaded mods is 4gb on consoles
Is this right?
If so, can I increase it?
Im maxed out at 100% but see theres some more maps and equipment due and would love to download them without having to remove other maps/equipment.

Why is limited when I have plenty of space available?
If its because having too many mods "in-game" causes lag etc, why not just introduce a system whereby you can only include mods to a game based on what memory it takes up, if it goes over that value then you cant activate it???

This is a restriction from Sony and Microsoft, it has nothing to do with Giants.

No problem, I asked the same questions about the restrictions when the game first came out too. Mods are still a pretty new thing on consoles, hopefully with time they will lighten up on the restrictions.
