It depends, how big is your TV and monitor, but keep this in mind, dont strain your eyes. Or better yet, how far are you away from your monitor or TV?

Monitor is your best bet. I tried my TV on HDMI and it spilled over the edges. Every TV I hooked up did the same. Monitor with DVI or TV with VGA is some options, a monitor with DVI-D will be perfect. That's what I am running right now. Acer 24" w/ DVI-D.

I use my 50" plasma TV as my monitor, purchased in 2007. It's only 50Hz @ 1080P but the game looks fantastic using HDMI, no issues with spilling or tearing.
Never had an issue with the viewable screen area on the TV.

For the xbox one , I use the curved Samsung ledscreen, it cost some grands but no monitor can top that xD
