Switching from PC to MAC

I am playing on a PC laptop. I am considering switching to a Macbook. Will I be able to move the game from one to the other, or will I have to download a different version for the MAC? And will my games be saved during the change or will things be lost and I have to start over?

You need the mac version. I think you have to buy a new license.
The savegames and mods can be moved from pc to mac and vice versa.

If the game has been bought directly from Giants then the same activation key can be used to download and install both the Windows and macOS versions of the game. But I'm not sure if the same is true as well if the game has been bought through other sources (Steam, ...).
