Game will not load and remains a black screen

The other day I downloaded the latest patch update and the game worked for the remainder of the evening however the next day it would not let me load the game and the screen remained black. I then uninstalled the patch and then the game loaded and worked fine but one of my save games that I started after the patch was missing so I re downloaded the patch and again i cannot load the game, any help would be great. I also recently updated my graphics driver to see if that would fix it but it hasn't.

That's the issue, the game doesn't crash, it simply does not load and remains a black screen.

You should still have a log. It's stored in my documents do you can access it without running the game.
