Giants Editor Issues

I've decided to try my hand at modding and making maps. After watching a bunch of tutorials, I downloaded the latest GE (7.1.0) and installed. It all starts okay. I opened a map and exported it, then opened the exported map file. Everything loaded okay. I cannot, however, seem to navigate as I should. W A S D does not work unless I hold down the right-mouse-button and when I release I get the right-click context menu. I've got my head pretty much wrapped around everything else (map making is HARD) but this is driving me batty.
