i7 700 or i7 700k?

Not too sure which to buy. Whats the major differences of these two processors?

7700 or the 7700k comes down to whether you plan on overclocking. If yes get the K, if no don’t.

I guess it also depends on how much each costs in your locale. If the non K is around 300$ and the K is around 350$. The non K, based on diminishing returns, is the way to go. If it’s more like 325$ to 335$, no reason not to go with the K.

The K version has a base clock of 4.2GHz and a boost of 4.5GHz, wheras the non-K version has a base clock of 3.6GHz and a boost of 4.2GHz. So the K version offers a bit better performance and can be overclocked.

But if you plan on getting one now, you might want to look into the 8. Gen CPUs ( i7-8700(K) ) since they offer 2 additional cores and a higher boost clock, which results in up to 35-40% more performance (depending on the workload, of course).

The 'k' version of an Intel processor means it can be overclocked (for future reference). And if you can afford it, I'd recommend the 8th gen i7s too, theyre gonna be faster and last a little longer

The 8th gen i7 isn't compatible with my motherboard, so I'll go with the i7700k.
