I've found something that I thought it was correct but it seems not.
I thought that any brand which you don't have any license to can't be on the official modhub.
But there are multiple JD tractors on the official modhub for PC.
So, I think licensing problem is only applicable for consoles, right?

The main problem is (in very very simple terms): We, as a company, can't use the license. Players however, as fans, can. Players upload the mods for PC, we upload them for console, so the PC mods are uploaded by players - thats OK.

We are a company. We make money with the game, therefore every brand we use needs to allow us to use it. (Pretty much the same as if you would be in Hollywood and want to show a Star Wars Poster in your movie, Disney has to allow it, or they can sue you). We do not have the license for John Deere, so we can't use John Deere.
However, as a player, you can totally use John Deere, you are not a company and that's not your business, so you are a fan and as fan you are fine.
So in short: A company needs to have a contract to use a Brand (as it is part of their business) a player does not need that, as it's not a business.
So if a player uploads a John Deere, or uses it in the game ect. then that's not a big issue. If we, as a company, want to do that, we need said contract or "license".
For PC, players upload mods (no license needed)
For console we upload them (license needed)
As I said, that's a very simplified explaination, but it should show what the problem is.

So ... if a modder creates (for example) a Tractor that is only based on John Deere/Deer & Co. (so: no decals, no name ...); called "Lizard" (or some other ficitional company), ... it could be used for consoles, too, right?!

JD owns the patents on color, design, sound, features, and even the shape. They are one of the most uptight AG companies in existence. Mostly due to JD having its own game.

I wonder what the licensing is like for Spudnik being as it is entirely owned by Grimme. Not that there is really all that much in the Spudnik lineup that I would want in the game.
