Post by TacoFarmer »

I see it's almost Thanksgiving time in Canada. What does a traditional Canadian Thanksgiving meal consist of? Is it like here in the US with Turkey, ham all the sides, sweets. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

Canuck here! Yes, usually turkey, and what was common for me growing up was cranberries, squash, turnip, mashed potatoes, peas, pumpkin pie and apple pie. A lot like Christmas, really.

Hey perfect timing, I just finished my super Canadian thanksgiving meal.
Turkey, stuffing, cranberries (for the turkey) and gravy also for the turkey and mashed potatoes. Then Buns and corn, coleslaw, meat balls with gravy. Then for desert pumpkin pie :biggrin2:

I honestly prefer ham over turkey, but normally I pile my plate with both  on my dad's side of the family, we also have some really good Nashville BBQ with all of the normal stuff, plus what ever amazing dish my mom decides to cook. This year though, we're having thanksgiving at my families house, meaning we don't have to make the 6 hour drive to eat some food

Its because of the shorter growing season. We have an earlier harvest and therefore an earlier thanksgiving.
