And it'll cost 4 grand right? I think i heard somewhere that the PS5 will only take a 4K TV not the TVs we have now? Hope that makes sense, it sounded right in my head lol.

Don't see them being 4k TV native to be honest. This a sure fire way to decrease sales. Not everyone has or will have a 4k TV so they won't be able to use the platform

Whoever is talking about definitive specs almost 3 years before it's released is talking absolute stuff anyway.

I'm pretty sure it won't be an "only" 4K device. It will have backwards compatibility like 1080p, 720p, etc. Otherwise sony would just loose customers. Not everybody has a 4K tv or monitor or even want one.

What I'm concerned though is the streaming part of that news. That would easily make me ditch the playstation and never buy again.

When I got the PS4 Pro and hooked it up it came with Call of Duty Black Ops. When I loaded it the options screen loaded it as 4K default. With FS17 it loaded it at 1080p and gave me the options of Full HD,Quad HD(3k/1440p),& Ultra HD(4k/2160p). I can tell a difference in quality between full HD & Quad HD. Between Quad HD and Ultra HD not so much. I am using a Sony 4K tv of 49". My computer has a 4K video card and a 28" LG 4K monitor and I can tell a difference between the highest settings

Quoted from the article itself.

"But there's another possibility: Sony might take this opportunity to wean us off traditional game consoles entirely. Bloomberg reports that Sony's new direction is less about gadgets and more about subscription services. And Sony just so happens to have a subscription service that can stream PlayStation games to people who don't have a console at all. It's called PlayStation Now.

While game streaming generally requires users to have a pretty solid internet connection, the bar isn't nearly as high today as it was when PlayStation Now was first introduced in 2014, and it might seem very low indeed compared to the internet connections available in 2021.

Sure, Sony could still release a traditional PlayStation 5 console. But don't be surprised if they don't -- or if the PS5 is simply a tiny box that streams games from the cloud."

I don't think 2021 is long enough to revolutionize console gaming like that. Besides there should be a transition solution before investing into such hardware power. I can't even imagine how many high power servers would Sony need to make this happen. So, I say it is still not that close but some sort of pilot programme may commence with PS5.
