Cab view New Holland CR9090 / attaching header.

Post by W1der »

Skip to 2:55 ... this is where it starts getting interesting.
We just "ram" in to the header and press a button ... :blushnew:

Also, I noticed the working speed was really low ... :this:

Would the crop all laying on the ground like it is cause low harvesting speed?

Speeds for harvesting depend on what your harvesting and if it’s been layed over by wind and rain take wheat for example you try to not harvest the whole stalk as it bogs down the machine and you have to go slow or risk overloading it (if it’s not layed over you can go faster just cutting the heads) some use skimmer headers that just get the heads but I’ve never been on a farm that used them so I can’t say much as to how they work beyond that now let’s take soybeans which are a lot lighter and don’t yield as much as wheat does on average for soybeans we usually have the headers basically skimming the ground but we can average a higher speed as they don’t bog down the combines as much

Not 100% sure what they’re harvesting but at 6:30 in that video the crop had been layed down by wind and rain (and possibly wildlife bedding down on it deer especially can be bad about that) and so they have to go low with the headers and slow so as to not bog down the machines to much

^1. Trying to get a whole field's worth off the ground like that would make for a long day. Almost looks like it was flooded. :confusednew:

Last year it took us probably half an hour to get the bean header on the 6620, and we had to use a tractor too
