Decided that I am going to upgrade to a GTX 1070 Ti next year and wondered if my i5-6500 would bottleneck the gpu. I am only wanting to run on High graphics, nothing more. Only 1080P, not 4K. Did noticed my cpu usage was at 90-100%, while my RX 470 was at 80-90%. Does that mean the cpu is bottlenecking the gpu currently?
Thanks.

yes it would, it has 3,2 base clock and 3,6 GHz turbo, as FS19 only uses a single core you would deffinitly notice it.

I was afraid of that, so it would probably be best for me to upgrade the cpu instead of the gpu. Would it be worth upgrading to an i7? The only gens my mobo can support is a 6th gen or 7th gen.

Re: i5-6500 + GTX 1070 Ti... Bottleneck?
Did a different test today while playing FS19. I updated my gpu driver to AMD's Adrenalin 2020 update and it has a built in performance monitor. It's saying my cpu is averaging about 50%, whereas gpu is close to or at 100% when there is a load. This is a little confusing, because Task Manager gave a different read out than AMD, maybe AMD is more accurate, not sure.

Hard to tell, atleast for me, you best head over to Small guide on PC's Thread, there are some folks around with more knowledge than i have. Depending on your play style and what you currently do ingame your results in those test vary. And its best to confirm such tests with a 3rd party tool, which is neither affiliated with MS or AMD.
The thing with the GPU and CPU is, that with a better GPU you can improve the look of the game and if the fps is worse than what you can accept you just lower it a bit and it runs fine again. But the CPU is a bit different, the more you play the more mods you "mark" as essential and keep them on every map you play, there is a point where you notice lags/stuttering and longer loading times for some thing, but you can't just lower some settings but have to remove some great mods.

Didn't know there was thread on that, I will check it out, thanks.
Decided to bite the bullet on a EVGA RTX 2060 and is definitely better than RX 470. I get about 15-20 more fps. I think it was worth the money for it. Hopefully it should last awhile.

At what graphic settings do you play ?
Could you buy 20-30 tractors or trucks in the same spot and tell me whats your FPS now ?
Im only curious about your FPS when you have lots of vehicles in one spot.
Thnx.

I play on High (stock settings with 5 mirrors + realistic beacons)
Fellsbrunn: 40-45 fps when I had 25 Quadtracs w/1 9240 combine at shop
Ravenport: 50-55 fps when I had 20 8245Rs w/ 4 s790s at shop, though without the combines it was 55-60 fps at shop.

Ty for this test, thats all i want to know
Re: i5-6500 + GTX 1070 Ti... Bottleneck?
It's funny in some way. I run an old AMD fx 8320 Eight core processor @3.5 Ghz. Pared it with a GeForce_1070 gtx and the game runs like the wind, with a processor load of average 20-25% and average FPS of 51 frames per sec'..
So, that's not bottle necking. O, and there is a mods folder attached to it with 464 items in it and all activated in the game.
The only thing is loading the last used save game file. Lol. That takes a whopping 1.8 minutes to load, from an SSD no less. But if it's loaded where good to go.
