What is Virtual Farming World (VFW)?

We pride ourselves in taking FS17 to the next level. VFW accomplishes this by creating a unique web-based contractor economy, which allows every independent worker to build his/her own business and contractor company. Yes, you heard it right, your own fleet, on your own personal yard. Yards are added into the map and are for sale in the economy system. Periodically, we change to an alternative map to keep farming challenging. Each map is customised by highly experienced map-makers. VFW is hosted on our own game servers. We also have a test server to allow evaluation of new mods and new maps. That way, the main VFW server runs without development work interfering with everyday business. Buy your own yard and buy buildings for your equipment.




How the economy works


The map represents a farm on which the contractor yards are distributed. VFW works by auto-generating a jobs system. Workers can accept one job at a time and he/she gets paid on successful completion. There are over 100 available jobs at any time which span the entire workflow of the virtual farm. Jobs can be completed solo or as part of a team.

Simply, you go to website http://virtualfarmingworld.com/, find and accept the job of your choice, assemble your farm machinery and your team and get to work. When completed, return to the job page, select “I completed the job”, and everyone on the team gets paid according to the price advertised you saw when you accepted it. It’s as simple as that.

You will enjoy building your funds, buying your yard and your equipment as well as having farming fun in this friendly multi-player environment. You will also appreciate the tremendous effort by the people who take the time to create and maintain this unique farming economy.

How VFW evolved?

Our community was born in April 2014, we called it Sunrise Valley and it operated using the More Realistic physics engine. We are very proud of our MR developer, Dural who used to come in and play sometimes. From the very start, the idea of personal contractor companies and contractor-owned machinery as well as individual progression interested us. Some very ambitious players joined the community in first few weeks, and eventually we outgrew the Alpental map by Elmo.
Developing a dedicated, long-living community is not an easy task, so, in late 2014, a decision was made to merge with Northshear Farming Group. It was a time of big changes. We developed our own website and, most importantly, started the first season of Virtual Farming World. It took lots of time to develop and balance every job and every single piece of equipment so that payments are fair, but it was finally done and we began beta testing. Meanwhile, we had our own map created in early 2015, designed specifically for our needs. The project boomed with activity and new members applied almost every day.
In November 2015, we started the second season of VFW with better balancing and tuning of the web-based automated job system. This required less input from the farm managers and admins. Result: seamless farming for everyone!

Welcome to Farming World.

With the release of Farming Simulator 2017, Virtual Farming World has undergone a total makeover. The update reflects the new capabilities of FS17 and features in the new-look website.

A lot of work went on behind the scenes to prepare our unique economy to include all the great farming activities we love.

We're excited to see the new facilities that FS17 has to offer and we have incorporated many new features to our economy system.

We welcome enquiries from keen virtual farming enthusiasts.

Well, I finally started my contracting business: "Sleipner Technologies"
I did get the Case Optum and Lely Mower + Windrower. But I was left with 893 USD.

we had a great co-op on Virtual Farming World the other day. Me, S3ph, Pete and Soap did Slurry on a couple of big fields.
While Spola and Noodles was busy doing other jobs. Good job from everyone!

Here is a short video (so far without commentary) showing when I use my G29 Steering Wheel and the Saitek Side Panel.

It's just a demo showing a bit of seeding, but it shows how I use some mods:
- GPS Mod for running in nice straight lines
- Drive Control mod for Gear Forward/Reverse selection
- Quick Camera for Looking Back and Front
It also shows how I use the scroll wheel on the panel to lower the cruise control speed just before I lift the seeder and make the turn. Then after the turn enable GPS again, lower the seeder and increase cruise control speed.
