Please fix cleanliness.

Post by Tiverton » Wed Nov 02, 2016 7:13 pm

:gamer:
Cleanliness mechanism creates a very frustrating game play. As soon as it begins to drop, it lowers the productivity continuously from 100 to 90%. Problem with that logic is that you have to constantly clean animal feeder to maintain 100% productivity. This could be very frustrating at higher game time speed.
My suggestion to fix it as follows:
While cleanliness remains between 100 and 1% we should get full 10% productivity bonus from it. Once cleanliness drops to 0% , we should lose cleanliness bonus all at once.
Similar to how food or water works now. As long as our feeding or watering is 1% full, we get full bonus to productivity. Productivity doesn't decrease 1% at a time as food and water are depleted. Cleanliness should work the same way.

I sort of agree with you on this one ...

I feel my pigs are very sensitive to "this".
And at times, it is a bit frustrating, to do the cleaning, with only 15-30 "units" on the ground ... :confusednew:

I have sort of a "personal issue", with my productivity being below 100% ... :blushnew:
And like this, I have no chance to "keep ahead", as it drops instantly.

I'm with you all on this. It is frustrating. I had to dedicate my trusty red CASE with a shovel just to watch the sheep poop. :)

I think they did this to give purpose to the skidloaders.

You need tractors with front loader for other work and/or have to travel much and one would prefer teleloaders or wheelloaders for more demanding lifting.

I think that your suggestion would make it to trivial to really bother with cleanliness because i would ignore it until its almost on zero before doing the cleaning. However in my opinion the production bonus should stay at maximum longer after the cleaning, then slowly starts declining and when the filth is piling up the decline goes faster. Thay way the farmer can enjoy its labour without being as labour intensive as it is now if you want to the production bonus up.

In real life the animal pens and feeding stations do need continual cleaning. Maybe this is just a try at realism.

I have sheep and pigs. To try to get the Oink Oink Trophy (PS4) I had to abandon the sheep to keep the pigs feed on 120x to get the Trophy quickly. I reached 76 pigs... no Trophy (reported in the bug thread). I sold 52 pigs in case that somehow registered it. I now have 25 pigs and am somewhat frustrated.

Yes ... but at the same time, in this game, they only need to be feed every sixth day ... if you have growth at "fast" ... that is around 540 days IRL ... :smileynew:

My "issue" with this, is that productivity drops instantly ... and there is only so little to clean (at least regarding pigs) ... :confusednew:
Playing with time setting on "x1" ... I would actually also have to feed them more often, than what is required now ...
(Only tried pigs this far ...)

I found it mildly annoying when spilt food appeared in the middle of the night when all the pigs were asleep. The fact that picking up the food in one of the bucket attachmens is a pain as well. Too high and no pickup, too low no movement with a fine line of adjustment between the two... on PS4 anyway.

I do agree with this.

Yeah in real life you have to clean aswell. But you dont have to stand there with a brush every minute of the day.

So the instant drop in productivity is not logical.

I don't see why you can't clean the area by hand, it's not as if its a lot of feed they throw out. Seriously you can chop down trees and pick up decent sized logs by hand but you can't pick up a little bit of animal feed?!?!?

I use the smallest conveyor to clean with my cows. You just drive by and it picks it up and immediately throws it back in the trough. The conveyor picks up stuff in quite a large area in front of it. So I guess if you place 4-5 of them in the area where feed spills you could pick everything up automatically as soon as it spills. Keeping your cleanliness at 100%

The problem is that if you have hundreds of, lets say sheep, your cleanliness will drop from 100 to 0 % in a matter of the single game hour. So you would have to permanently drive your shovel back and forth to keep around 98% productivity while ignoring the rest of the game content. The change I proposed would allow you to plan cleaning as part of your daily routine as percentage approaches 0, just like you do with food and water, while still enjoying 100% productivity, as you work on other tasks.
Anyways, I think cleanliness concept is broken. No other part of the game requires such a full time commitment to maintain productivity.

Another evidence that the concept is broken. No farmer would do that in real life.
