Re: windrowing hay back into grass?
First I've seen your post which is in General Discussion and then the one in here.
I'm also wondering if that is a bug or a feature.
But I think you should read this topic first (viewtopic.php?f=936&t=110383) and amend your report accordingly.
Otherwise no one would look into the matter.

Re: windrowing hay back into grass?
When exactly did the hay turn into grass? Was it right after windrowing ie. on the ground, or when picking it up/baling?
Hay isn't used for bedding, straw is (straw is the leftovers from wheat, barley)
Are you running any mods at all? if on pc, you should post your log.txt

Re: windrowing hay back into grass?
i used the tedder and saw it became golden as hay would be mostly. then i windrowed that and i guess i didnt notice it turned back into grass cause i was using the loading wagon to get the hay and i noticed then that it was grass.

hay for the mixed rations for cows i was thinking.
Re: windrowing hay back into grass?
I've got an idea of where this went wrong for you..
I'm guessing they copy/pasted this behaviour to the loading wagons to "save time"
Would be nice if they fixed it, but don't count on it
- You've missed a tiny bit of grass with the tedder
- You're collecting hay and run over the grass
- All of the content is then changed to grass

Re: windrowing hay back into grass?
gonna try this again sometime. just cut grass on the entire field 27. then tedder it. then windrow it. or maybe do some windrowing before i cut at all...
kinda makes gameplay a little less safe for making just hay now

Re: windrowing hay back into grass?
your "problem" is the loading wagon. it turns hay into grass for some reason (devs feel free to say why). was the same at fs13 and fs15.

Re: windrowing hay back into grass?
Just confirmed it: It's a game design issue and won't be fixed, I'm afraid - see here: viewtopic.php?f=936&t=113276&p=888661&hilit=hay#p888661
Re: [SOLVED] windrowing hay back into grass?
Here's a workaround:
leave a small bit of hay on the ground someplace outside your field. After you've filled the wagon to 95% or so, hit that pile of hay. That will cause the wagon to convert all of its contents into hay, and then you can dump just a little bit back out for the next cycle.
It's weird, but it works. The forage wagons convert their entire load into whatever you picked up last; so if you pick up hay, the entire load turns into hay. If you then pick up some grass, the load changes to grass. So leaving a pile of something you know for sure is hay will allow you to switch the load back any time you need hay. (Just remember to dump a little back out, so you can repeat the process later.)
