[WON'T FIX] Stuttering worse than ever since patch 1.5.1
Re: [KNOWN ISSUE] Stuttering worse than ever since patch 1.5.1
I'm having this same issue with and without mods, and even when starting a new savegame. I don't think the number of machines or hired workers is the root cause, though it could certainly be a factor. I find it strange that the game switches to an officially unsupported borderless windowed mode when using Alt + Tab. On high refresh rate monitors this causes very strange behavior. Primarily because the game will still be locked to 60 Hz, but is now instead using the desktop refresh rate.
Re: [KNOWN ISSUE] Stuttering worse than ever since patch 1.5.1
How to lock on 60FPS?
This is maybe stupid question but i don't know how to do that.

I'm also having issues all of a sudden. don't know why

FS 17 is locked to 60 FPS by default so you don't have to do anything unless you changed it yourself.Ogi55 wrote:How to lock on 60FPS?

Some gamers have monitors that can run at higher refresh rates ie. 120hz or more.
Most games locked at 60 FPS doesn't run as good on those monitors (ie small stutters).
Edit: This is how it works on pc by the way.

Hey all, I've noticed one gigantic mistake most of you are doing:
mixing FPS and Refresh rate(GPU/Screen Hz)...
FPS are the Frames Per Seconds generated by the game(recommended 60FPS) It's the game image fludidity(stuttering, freezing)... 45 FPS is the minimum for fluidity, 60 is standard, higher is useless in most cases...
Refresh rate is the refresh speed of your screen(lower than 60Hz you might see some flashing, causing "sight fatigue")... Higher it is the least "sight fatigue" you have on long exposure period...
Screen refresh rate(Hz) doesn't affect the game's fluidity...
Please use the right term when you write about a bug...
On my end, I have no problems whatsoever(ignoring a few stutters in the first minute in the game) with my game, and I'm playing on RattleSnake VAlley V2(personnal edit with additionnal buildings&fruits, Seasons support and other modifs.) and a ton of mods(Ie, I'm using FarmingTablet with apps)... I could even say it's running a little bit better since the update!
Here's my PC specs:
MB: ASUS Z87-C
CPU: I5-4670
RAM: 8GB DDR3-1600
HDDs:
- 120GB SSD for Windows
- WD 1TB Black(7200RPM 64MB Cache) HDD
GPU: Gigabyte GTX-560 OC 1GB
Displays:
- 2x DELL 19" LED screens, 1440x900 @ 75Hz on GTX560
- 1x DELL 19" LED screen, 1440x900 @ 75Hz on Intel GPU
As it's far from an high end gaming PC, I simply make sure I kill any useless background programs(as OneDrive, Skype, etc.) and set my games accordingly...
Also: When I first tried the new update, I kept the "Windows task Manager" opened in one of my secondary screens and made sure the CPU and RAM aren't getting overloaded( more than 85% usage)...
So as far as I know(13 years computer tech and gamer), if you have stuttering(freezes or low FPS) problems, it's either:
- Your game is corrupted in some way,
- You have bad quality hardware
- A bug in Windows(virus, malware or other stuff)
- You have some setting wrong in your game...
I'll post my log later, it's almost clean, only have a bugged mod to fix and I have to go...
My gaming modo: there's no bad PC rig, only bad users using their pc the wrong way with wrong game settings...

That's nice for youThaFarmer wrote: On my end, I have no problems whatsoever(ignoring a few stutters in the first minute in the game) with my game, and I'm playing on RattleSnake VAlley V2(personnal edit with additionnal buildings&fruits, Seasons support and other modifs.) and a ton of mods(Ie, I'm using FarmingTablet with apps)... However there are many people who are not having it as nice as you are. You have not experienced the problem being discussed here, by your own above statement, but somehow think you can talk about it like it does not exist.
These other people have paid, if like me, some $85 for the pleasure of not having it nice like you have, and this is where they can let the developers know about said issues.
I am now in the same situation as you are now, which is nice for me....BUT I can assure you there IS a problem with the 1.5.1 patch and you are not helping any.
Try reading all that has been posted before wading in and aggravating an already unpleasant $85 problem.

You missunderstood me...
I haven't denied that there is any problem...
I only said that it can be due to an other fact(About that: I didn't think I needed to mention that your case was an example, you fixed it yourself)...
To the others:
Maybe one of the changes in the update causes a conflicting config that may need to be changed somewhere(like a GPU setting)...
In any games I play, if I have FPS drop problems, I check if I have the right settings, then I check if my CPU, RAM, HDD or GPU/VRAM overloads...
Just a few examples:
- When the FarmingTablet came out on ModHub, I was so eager to use it that I hadn't though it was going to require ressouces(CPU/RAM) to run it...
Result: Huge lags happening at any moment...
I checked in the task Manager: 90% CPU and 95% RAM usage...
Killed OnedDrive, Skype, OneNote, and a few other processes. no more lags...
- This week: When I decided to come back farming(after a little break), downloaded the update and DLC...
I forgot that A while ago, I had enabled some setting in the Nvidia Performance Configs for an other game...
After updating the mods I use, I've realised that the FPS was a little low(40-45) and had some freezes...
Checked all my game's settings, all is fine(normally should be)
Finally remembered this Nvidia config I changed, reset to defaut.
Fixed the problem...
This is what I meant... BTW I have purchased the DLC and tested it with most of my mods, I've got no problems whatsoever, I can even run it on same settings as Genuine maps and higher than any 4x maps...
If you have an high-end gaming PC and you have lags where lower rigs don't, there isn't that much options, and it might no be the game itself...
I'm working on fixing the mod that's causing log errors and then I'll show you how many mods I run on my map...
I have somewhat over 20 mods, on a 4x map...
If you have FPS issues, the first thing to check it's how your computer is running...
If there is a process that causes high CPU/RAM/HDD, else than the game, investigate on your side...
AND: stop crying that the game's wrecked or broken...
Re: [KNOWN ISSUE] Stuttering worse than ever since patch 1.5.1
I am sure you mean no harm, but my machine is tweaked to run like nothing else than Windows, and the basics needed for gaming and internet/wifi. An i7 with GTX 1060ThaFarmer wrote:If you have FPS issues, the first thing to check it's how your computer is running...
No matter what map, my machine gives the same FPS on LOW settings as it does on High Custom 200%.
Giants' game engine is a shame. I lost all joy of this game, last post here for a while, I am going to do other things as this game can't be enjoyed with FPS doing rollercoaster all the time. Hell, FS15 on my old crate with 32 FPS (STABLE 32 FPS) was way more enjoyable. I guess Giants will keep being stubborn and keep messing with their frankenstein game engine

Farmer, nobody is " crying that the game's wrecked or broken..."
This is NOT about installing a new game and having a problem from doing that, NOT even in the post title
But this IS about the latest 1.5.1 patch, even in the post title and everyone who posted a problem here, has been running FS17 without a problem, including it's many patches, up until patch 1.5.1
The OP also suggests the there was a problem with the 1.4.4 patch and I can confirm that both the 1.5.1 & 1.4.4 patches threw up the same error while I was installing them, so there is definitely something wrong with these patches and it appears to me to be happening during install.
That said, I'm sure you want to help, but you would need to have some kind of understanding of the problem to do that, however, you don't appear to show any sign of this in your posts...and one liners like I quoted from you above do anything but help.
I would encourage anyone who "wants to help" here, to think clearly about how they would feel after running FS17 since it came out, not just without a problem, but with pleasure, having paid for DLC's, including pre-paying for the latest, which in turn relies on the successful installation of the 1.5.1 patch, only to have that patch fail to function in a game breaking fashion...
Ask yourself then, how would you react to someone telling you that it's your own fault and "stop crying that the game's wrecked or broken"...?
Your not helping them, nor are you helping Giant's, as many people will just avoid posting issues on this forum and take their hard earned $'s elsewhere, which in turn does not help you or the rest of us either.

Re: [KNOWN ISSUE] Stuttering worse than ever since patch 1.5.1
The thing that makes this hard to solve is how inconsistent it can be. Even on my PC I can't reproduce this all of the time. The only thing I can consistently reproduce is the stuttering that occurs when the framerate limiter is on, and a lot of machines are on screen. When the framerate limiter is off, and even with the monitor set to just 60 Hz, it works perfectly. I am currently running the game at 120 Hz with the framerate limiter disabled, and it is now acceptable most of the time.

Re: [KNOWN ISSUE] Stuttering worse than ever since patch 1.5.1
well...this is tagged as a "known issue", so I'm sure there will be a solution soon. the daily update has only said "update" for the last few days. id be bugged out if it said only "read" or "wont fix". i'm even having trouble with the new platinum map lagging like crazy. I know it isn't my rig. gold crest valley is the same way. oddly enough westbridge runs almost perfect. 60pfs most of the time. the are ocassional lag outs that did not accure prior to the patch. at first I thought it was windows but ive taken care of that. still lags in farm sim.

Re: [KNOWN ISSUE] Stuttering worse than ever since patch 1.5.1
Ok guys, I'm sorry I still do not have more info on this issue...
We currently cannot look into the exact problem since we aren't able to reproduce this on any of the office PCs or at home. For now, we will set this to WON'T FIX - we will keep investigating what may be causing this over time and see if we can force the game to stutter for us as well, but don't expect a fix coming with the next patch. Still not sure what is causing your game to stutter. When playing without mods and at a locked 60 FPS there shouldn't be any problems. There are many other factors that could cause lagging (outside of the base game), so we will keep investigating.
Thank youf or your patience.

Re: [WON'T FIX] Stuttering worse than ever since patch 1.5.1
I have been having issues with my screen "flickering" and it got worse after this last update.
Started experimenting with the settings for my screens update freq as I recall having a similar issue when the game arrived and I found the solution in locking the screen to 60Hz.
I am not talking about the "in game settings" (this is NVIDIAs setting for screen resolution and update freq).
This is what I found.
Screen set to 60Hz / with FPS locked to 60.
When the "flickering" happens the FPS drops just a tad.
Screen set to 60Hz / with FPS set to "free".
When the "flickering" happens the FPS goes up to 61-63-ish.
Screen set to 144Hz / with FPS locked to 60.
When the "flickering" happens the FPS drops just a tad.
Screen set to 144Hz / with FPS set to "free".
I am getting everything in between 130-144 FPS and the flickering is sort of "different".
Edit: Also, vehicles wont reach top speed with this setting.
This is where it becomes interesting ...
Screen set to 59Hz
Issue is sort of almost completely gone (but my eyes are bleeding).
