Guidance Steering WIP updates.

Post by Wopster »

As many of you know, Guidance Steering is open for beta. This allows me to be more transparent to the players and offer some early fun.

But this beta is mainly meant for getting the basic functionality stable, the mod is still W.I.P. as we speak.
So I want to make clear that, YES, not every feature is added or working.

I also would like to note that reading the actual readme helps a lot. (Yeah I know, reading is really hard )

I would like to use this thread to give you guys some updates.

If you find new issues which are not listed in the issue list, please create a new issue on my GitHub repository:
https://github.com/stijnwop/guidanceSteering

You can also find the readme there!

Edit don_apple: topic moved from "General Discussion" to "WIP Mods, since this is a bout a Mod that is still "work in progress".

To expand on my previous comment from the GPS Beta topic in Genral Discussion Forum and offer some better and more constructive feedback then what I posted. The reason why I said I prefered the GPS Mod in FS17 because it was easier to use and operate, comes down to it having the onscreen controls when you were in vehicles that you could click on to perform the functions and features of the mod. In my setup here, I'm playing FS19 with a Logitech Wheel, Razer Nostromo and occasionally a wireless Razer Naga Mouse whilst occupying a wheel rig. My PC and therefore my Keyboard is on the complete opposite side of the room from me and can't be reached from the rig. Therefore a mod that add functions but only offers keybinds as a way of activating them is a problem as I only have a limited number of buttons available to me to bind controls to and those obviously are prioritised towards the vital in game functions and basic functions we can't play without. So I don't have an option to bind the Guidance Steering Controls on my devices. Having the on screen UI/Hud/Control Panel whatever you want to call it would make this so much easier for to use as I could select the functions easily on screen by moving the cursor with either my Nostromo Thumbstick which functions as a mouse or my wireless mouse.

You know that this mod has a full UI right? Because this sounds to me that you didn't discover that yet, and only used/tried the key bindings.

Okay then I'm missing something that's not detailed or explained in the readme on how to get a GUI on the screen. I've just gone into game to test with a harvester, bought a new one from the shop, fitted the GPS, drove to the field I want to harvest, and I'm not seeing anything on screen. I have taken a screen shot below to show what I'm seeing. I can see the little white dots under the harvester so I know the GPS is installed and working, but there is nothing on screen for me to click to set it up or activate it to do the work.

I guess I'm expecting to see something like this on my screen to control the Guidance Steering Features and Functions:

Mm, it's explained in the readme. Well that you can open the UI/menu with ctrl + s. :biggrin2:

But keep in mind that it's beta and WIP.. so things tend to not work or whatever.

I will suggest you and others to watch this video first:

I know Ctrl+S opens a menu, but that's not what I need to control and operate the GPS when I'm in a machine. As I said on my simulator rig that I play FS19 on, I don't have a keyboard attached, and my controls don't have a button bound to Ctrl+S or any of the other buttons you've bound, plus from trying that menu earlier back on my desktop PC, it doesn't allow me to see what's going on with the tractor, harvester or whatever. I'd actually describe this GUI currently more as an in-game menu rather then an onscreen controller for the mod. So for now I will have to wait until the Beta has developed and the feature and functionality comes along a bit. I'll keep tracking the mod's progress and appreciate your work so far on trying to bring a GPS-Like mod to the Farming Simulator 19 community.

Love it.

Didn't take to long to get used to the new way of doing things and set it up to work with my Steam Controller.
