West Road Farms

Afternoon all,

I'm just starting and when I say just starting I'm not kidding, to develop a map known at the moment as West Road Farms. I've started this thread essentially to have any opinions voiced upon my upcoming map because I do appreciate the need for input from the players to make this successful. So with that out of the way, I'll tell you all a bit about the area and the kind of land you will be working with. I will say now that large equipment such as 10m wide seed drills are absolutely alien to this region with the largest tractors seen in the area being about 200-250bhp. Much of the land in this area is either peat bog which is very difficult to work given the nature of the soil type or a sandy loam type of ground which as many will know, is as close to ideal conditions in wetter areas of the UK as you can get. I will be looking to alter crop yields for poorer grounds as well as making my own seasons geo mod to accompany the map. There will be all going well at least three different yards on the map with all having livestock sheds and grazing areas. The vast majority of this map is grassland with about a fifth of the local area to these farms being used for arable crop production. There will be plenty of opportunity to make suggestions for things you'd all like to see don't worry about that. I haven't yet decided on the total size of the map as yet but I do hope to include about 50 to 60 fields with the main starting farm boasting 105.6 hectares of good workable land with at least 16 different fields and areas outwith the actual farm yard. I've used the field margin app to show the area of the main farm but more screenshots and information will follow when I've had the time to draw them out. I will be making a conscious effort to be as realistic as possible by taking steps such as limiting herd numbers on each individual farm to about 100 heads as that is what is on average what farms in this area can sustain. I will endeavour to change surrounding buildings to shops and sell points whilst not using buildings that would not suit the area, I.E. no US style or eastern EU style buildings.I am attaching a link to my field margins screenshot to show what my project is and a small look at the starting farm. more will follow later today and over the coming weeks and or months as I progress. This is a learning curve for me so I would appreciate anyone pointing out any errors so I can fix them and reduce the amount of bouncing back and forth with giants in the future. I do plan to release this for console in the future. https://image.giants-software.com/index ... codes=true

Apologies for the move I had posted in the wrong area.

Edit don_apple: topic moved from 'Modding' to 'WIP_Mods', since it seems to be about a new mod map that is in the process of being made (WIP = Work In Progress).

Looks like it would be a good map. Just a suggestion, in my opinion, maybe instead of having unusable space on your map with the rocky area you could turn that into two smaller forest areas that would be cheaper to buy starting out than the big area.

I appreciate your suggestion so thank you, that’s actually a very good idea however I’m not sure it would be entirely necessary as the areas marked on the field margins would be what I intend to give you as starting land. I will definitely take on your suggestion, another idea I had come up with since posting is that I could turn that rocky land into a placeable area for greenhouses or a wind turbine.
