Well look at John Deere they didn't have one for the s790 and yet there it is

I am certain it was planned the whole time as a last minute surprise. No way they were leaving out JDs most popular piece of equipment.

I'm pretty sure it was planned as well since I doubt Giants would be able to work out the licensing, capture everything they need for source material and model it in only a couple months while also tackling the rest of the development.

Lars has said here that it was only as players asked. There's no reason to disbelieve him.

GIANTS themselves don't create the base models from what I see (they outsource from ArtStation), but they get the model game-ready, which while not a quick task probably isn't too much of a drain on resources (chances are the guys responsible had finished most of that aspect of the game anyway).
