I'm Enjoying the Cotton Harvest

Post by lefe1 »

I'm really starting to enjoy doing the cotton harvest. one thing that's awesome is that when you hire help to run the cotton harvester is that he unloads himself and never stops until he's done.. so set him off to pick cotton while i'm doing field work in other fields and tending to my animal friends, riding my horses. and picking up the bales...now just waiting on a good price too sell..

After you take out worker wages though, will the cotton be worth enough to make a profit?

I really enjoy picking cotton too. I like how the picker units line up with the rows of cotton. I like to skip every other pass and let my brother pick the passes I skip with his picker when we play multiplayer.

I can't wait to do cotton and sugarcane harvesting, there's 2 more machines in my garage... How about the potato harvester? Is it better than the old one? The new one looks awesome, old one is an eyesore.

I'm not happy with 40% drop in maintenance for one hour of use. I'm on ravenport fields 6,12 and it cost almost 4k per field in maintenance cost.a little steep imo.

The new patato one fills up too fast( 9500 liter capacity) and can get stuck on uneven ground and it's pipe drops too low during use making unloading a bit of a pain.

Cotton harvesting is also my Nirvana.
I love it so much that I just can't give the pleasure of harvesting cotton to a worker :biggrin2:
It is so easy and comfortable to use the cotton harvester from both incab and outcab views.
And the whole process is so therapeutic :coolnew:
Are you on new farmer lefe?
Cause, the highest price I saw on farm manager is 709.

Oh man, I miss the "easy" prices so much.
Medium takes much more effort to build up something.

I agree, did a contract on Ravenport #5, you're having to constantly unload it. And it needed maintenance before I'd completed the field - $3000 out of pocket for that. The beet harvesters have a better capacity - reinforces why I generally avoid potatoes: too much specialist equipment.

the only reason I'm doing new farmer is because this will be my test farm and new farmer is easier to make money on consoles since we don't have the money box and can't edit money.... but after the new release comes out i'll be playing on farm-manager and some maps start from scratch both without the money box.. yep I only want the money box is for my test farm so I can test things out and new mods to see if i'm going to use or like them. but other than that, I like the grind...
