When using the head on the scorpionking you can rotate it around a tree but is it possible to lay the head horizontal to pick up trees on the ground?
Also IRL you are able to use the grapple separate from the cutting saw so you can roll the tree through the head without cutting..
I tried all the axis for the crane in the binding menu but could not get it to move.

In 17 you could kind of lay it in the end of the trunk and it would give you the option to cut it. Haven’t tried on 19

Yes this does still work but it is a PITA and not how it is intended to be used!

However there has been mods released for PC that allow for head tilting and longer cuts.

I haven't seen one yet, but in FS17 there was versions that allowed for grabbing manually.
Most just re-positioned the jaws to a more open position when "turned off", there was one that actually did it properly and assigned an an axis.

If you happen to be on console, then it's time you upgraded to a PC.

I have indeed found a mod now as you mentioned so I can tilt the head on a separate axis (crane 3 or something) also I can cut logs up to 16 metres!

I found it on fs19.net I think it was and it’s decent site not many ads or rubbish...
Just search for “scorpion” and it’s the real forestry one, it has mostly all the forestry machines modded and works well!
