Easy arm control mimics Intelligent boom control. And it does it well. I use an X-52 joystick and have it set up correctly. The stick itself controls in/out and left/right from the operator perspective. Buttons control up/down. Rotation and opening/closing of the tool/clamp is setup as usual. The easy arm control logic determines whether to boom in/out and which elbow(s) to use to get the tool where you want it to go.

Hah hah... good joke. Sorry but I disagree, Just try to use it with keyboard and mouse for once without having altered any setting.
Having completely set-up my gamepad I can use the controls as well, but standard vanilla controls are a joke for cranes and teleloader arms and such, can't be taken seriously, imo.

This is essentially what easy arm control does. The only difference is the ability to turn it on and off with a switch. It's a menu option in-game which is the only thing lacking ...

Thanks for sharing the clip ... It helps to understand how this thing is supposed to work.

I tried it ... but I need to remap my axis to get it working the way it is supposed to according to the clip.
This where it gets confusing as the lines in the controls menu correlates to the old way of operating the crane!

I mapped it like this ...

Swing the arm Left / right ...
Rotate crane Right / Left Joystick Right
Rotate Crane Left / Left Joystick Left

Push the Tool out and in ... (this setup makes the tool go out when I push the joystick forward)
Lift Crane Arm / Left Joystick towards me
Lower Crane Arm / Left Joystick away from me

Lift arm ... (This setup makes the boom go up when I push the joystick towards me)
Lift Crane Arm2 / Right Joystick towards me
Lower Crane Arm2 / Right joystick away from me

Ones setup correctly it is actually quite intuitive and took me 5 min to adapt to!
If you only have 1 joystick you could push a button as a modifier when mapping this axis to control the boom up / down ...



BTW ... the JD forwarder in that clip looks amazing with the turning cabin!

I tried that but it seemed less intuitive. For the moment I'm happy using buttons for the vertical axis. The joystick itself for in/out and rotate left/right. And hat switches for tool rotation and grab.

I made a clip unloading a Buffalo with 5 m logs after 10 min of practice ...



I noticed in the clip that the JD operator pulls the joystick towards himself when lowering the boom ... I am used to have it the opposite way from operating excavators.

I totally dismissed this feature when I tried it the first time ...

I really like it this way ... less challenging but a bit smoother (especially when you lack dept of perception on the screen).

The controls menu needs some work ... for sure!
Setting this up makes absolutely no sense ...

I found that using the Scorpion to cut the logs straight into the log trailer worked best for me was sooo much quicker and easier. I've used all of the log forks and I gave up with that... Moved straight onto the Scorpion and just cut straight into your trailer and works perfectly (after practise)

same here, cutting the logs directly is by far faster and easier. If you need to adjust the trailer make sure you have auto start and stop off, that way the scorpion will not drop the log when you get out to adjust the trailer.

Does this mod work when you exit the vehicle? I always find it annoying when you have to move your truck and get back into the scorpion for it to then drop the tree lol

Never tried it to be honest ...

Probably because there is no need to exit the vehicle really ... as you make the cut manually you have greater control over where it ends up!
