Suggestion from a lowly worm
Alright, so I play the PS4 version of FS19. I love it a great deal, though some of the bugs do irritate me quite a bit. There are some ideas my boyfriend and I have gone back and forth about, but the biggest one has to do with hiring help.
For those not on console (and I'm not sure how the buttons are arranged on the xbox) when hiring help on the PS4, you press the circle button. Which is also in the combination for lowering various tools (something that is done constantly) or turning on vehicle lights. Hitting the combinations is usually very quick, at least for me. But if the controller doesn't quite register the L1 or R1 being pressed...I've just hired a worker.
Yes, I can just dismiss them, but those few seconds of work still costs me a whole dollar. (I know, so much money!) This is more of a nuisance than anything. My suggestion for it is a simple fix, really. My boyfriend just suggested that, rather than simply pushing the circle button, you have to hold it down for a few seconds before it would hire someone. An easier fix would be to have a setting in the options that is simply "allow hire help" or something. You can have it turned on or off, depending on whether you want the ability to have the AI lend a hand.
A more complicated alternative is changing the button used. I would recommend triangle, as that is rarely used in any combination that I've found.

Re: Suggestion from a lowly worm
I've always wanted a game for console that would let us have the option to set out own controller configurations. And none of that multiple preset options that some games have. A full blown list of which button i want to do what. It's a dream i feel I'll never get.
Most games and most of the times i wouldn't change a thing but every once in a while it would sure be nice to have a little more customization in some games.

It is absolutely an annoyance. You can't change the button mappings on a console?
For anyone interested, here's a list of all the buttons from the inputbindings.xml file from the PC version. I would imagine that the names on console would be about the same. There is a PC only section and some for some specific mods.

Re: Suggestion from a lowly worm
I’ve done that before too without meaning to hire a worker, the easiest fix for the problem without going to far as finding a way to change layouts on console would be to move the hire button to another, triangle would be a good choice I would a agree

It's "Y" for us on Xbox, not a bad idea, does get annoying.

Re: Suggestion from a lowly worm
On ps4 you can change the buttons around, you can set the square to be on the triangle, but it won't help you as you will still have to use the same button for multiple things.

Re: Suggestion from a lowly worm
It's part of the playstation settings, not in-game. Once you set them you can enable/disable the new assignments through the quick menu (hold the ps button for a second) then go down to accessibility
Note: In-game button prompts will still say the original button not the re-map.

Re: Suggestion from a lowly worm
Which wouldn't fix the problem anyway, since I'd still have to use the "circle" button for hiring and lowering and all that. If there was an in-game customization, that would be different.

Re: Suggestion from a lowly worm
Just the prompt stays the same. The button you mapped will still do the right thing it's just that the game won't know so you'll need to remember your mapping
Edit: you're right though, the lowering will stay on the same button as hire worker. I was replying because it was asked about the button changing on ps4
