Disappointed with the game - Some criticism

Post by InternationalFarmer »

I’ve been playing farming simulator since 2013 and notice the game has always been greatly improved with each game release. However, with 2019 I was very disappointed for the price I paid vs the game I got. Now I have played this game from release and have finally given up. It shouldn’t be up to the mods to make the game great. The base game just isn’t good enough.

I feel it’s just a mild improvement and not much of an actual advancement. It feel that we have just got “yet another Farming Simulator” and not an actual advancement from the last few games. The terrain is still a picture and not actual deformation of a field. Some other producers have started doing that already like spin tires or Cattle + Crops. How come the “bigger” game hasn’t joined that club yet?

I’ve seen I’m definitely not the only one. I hope Giants up their game before it’s too late.

I’m just so disappointed, anything else released from giants this day on I’ll be torrenting. Until I decide to buy it, if I think it’s worth my money that is.

There’s been many people complaining on this forum. You’re not alone! I agree with you entirely.

We paid for it, it’s not as good as the hype, simple!

I got this game at a heavy discount (thank goodness!), so I'm not too upset over the money, but I just can't believe what has happened... There used to be great communication on these boards and many of us felt a part of a community, that our feedback meant something... I feel like giants has kind of gone MIA, and it better change quickly, I have several friends who say they will not be preordering any future titles, as they have in the past... It really makes you wonder if this is the decline of giants... So many other publishers and dev companies have disappeared, and other great series that I love have ended....i suppose this will be no different. I believe 17 will be regarded as the highpoint in this series... Played hundreds of hours with it..
But I hope I'm wrong... Just keep thinking that things will change, that support will improve, but weeks and months go by...

Ya this game was over hyped, giants even admitted that the game was un-finished at release.

They didn’t exactly admit that. During the pre launch live-streams they said that they realised they should have included a way to place roads etc for making your own farm so started working on terraforming.

So they admitted to deciding to add more to the game.

When 17 came out I played 8-10 hours a day. Had hundreds of hours on it but 19 I got less than 20 hours on it since release. I can't get into it. It's definitely a huge letdown.

this just about says it all doesn't it..

I''ll admit I used to be here all the time loved FS15 and FS17...but was very leery when FS19 was being shown to us and is it turned out the FS19 dog and pony show turned out to be just that...a dog and pony show..

I haven't yet picked this up...some of friends did and they say I was the wiser for not spending my money... I may yet pick it up in the future for the easy trophies...but if I do...I will pick it up used because I am not sure Giants is worthy of my money this go round..

As most of us know, it is the modders that have been keeping this game alive. Without them it would have died by now.
The maps are my biggest issue.
They rely on the modders far to heavily.

Before this gets locked let me say I agree. Kind of pi** that I was *censored* into pre ordering simply by the John Deere announcement. I'll admit that it was my fault that i pre ordered, but after all the hype and the CGI trailers having fenominal looking American style maps simply being a marketing tool and not depicting even remotely the in-game maps, I am now pi** off at Giants. I will not be pre ordering the next one. Westbridge Hills was a great map in 13 when I first started playing on PS3. Each year they have an amazing American themed map as the cover art for the game case and the start menu or the CGI trailer... Yet the only map to ever come close to those images has been westbridge Hills. For me I'm not disappointed about bugs or graphics or slots. What I'm most disappointed about is the maps in the vanilla game are not even farm type maps... Heck, they aren't even that good of forestry maps! I just don't get it... GCV was also good in the last game in my opinion...

Anyway rant over.

Just to add to my last post as I realised something... Giants should be seeing all this and already fixing their train of thought for the next game as I hear it is likely already in development.

It’s not already in development. They’ve started talking about what they’re gonna do in FS21 but FS19 will still have regular DLCs and updates
