Censorship

Post by saracaen »

Did they really just lock a criticism thread? Some proper censorship going on right here, except that they don't do the same on the german forums.

It's all about your massiv posting. The Thread was good, but you wrote that last sentence in the first post, what was against the forum rules.

A sentence about not buying future content until they decide to care about the base game is against the rules?

I'm not sure it's about that. They just don't like criticism, when they know damn well that it is all deserved. I have enjoyed this series since the very beginning, and it hurts to see them go downhill like this. It's also worth noting that there are quite a few threads over at the german forums with a similar tone, and yet they remain open. I'm obviously not the only one with an axe to grind.

if they were censoring then they would delete threads like that, not lock them and leave them in the open

Fair enough, but they are not tolerating criticism either way. The end effect is the same regardless, because it is locked it will fall to the bottom of the pile.

If the mods didn't lock it, it would just turn into a flame war so I look at is as a pre-emptive strike to prevent people from behaving like they always end up behaving in threads like that

saracaen (and others)...

There is nothing in any laws, regulations, or rules that says that you are entitled to free speech on an internet forum run by a company. It's their forum. They decide. Not happy? Start your own forum and set your own rules.

Also, the constant and repetitive postings by some users about that they paid too much for the game, that DLCs contain too little, that there are not enough mods, that they get the wrong typ of mods, that we need to boycott etc etc... It became non-constructive and tiresome a long time ago... GIANTS tolerate crtitizism - *if* it is constructive and to the point, and not just ranting and ridiculing for the sake of rant and ridicule.

The intended goal is not to flame GIANTS however, the goal is get them to reconsider their [Wont Fix] stance on just about everything that isn't a game-breaker. First they archive all existing bug reports when the new patch is released, and just tell us to resubmit any bugs we encounter. And when we do just that, half of them are marked [Wont Fix] almost immediately.

Sup sup,
locking this one too and also remind OP to take a look at the rules particularly:
Also bashing and boycotts are prohibited. Please try to keep a decent tone.
as well as
Reopening a closed / existing threads is prohibited
and
Re-posting replies / content that is clearly or already apparent in previous posts is not allowed
Criticism is good and something we encourage, which should be apparant by the fact that there are posts existing on this forums that are not moderated. This is due to the criticism being provided in a constructive manner that isn't spammed everywhere.

All further threads that aren't following our rules will be removed without comment.
