Do you have to have one in order for your chickens to reproduce?

Is there a certain rooster/chicken ratio that is most productive. I dont suppose one rooster can.....(service?) 300 some odd chickens, or are in-game roosters very busy?

Think you only need one but I have about seven or eight for 500 plus chickens.

I don't have roosters and all three of my chicken pens reproduce.

So roosters are not needed for reproduction they are only for show. Makes sense as none of the other animals have males but they still reproduce. I will still always get a few as they look the part strutting around the yard

I'm leaving all animals alone until we get something to make the whole husbandry element a little more realistic, seasons looks promising in this regard. Until then I'm happy in my harvester or out working the fields

You need roosters in order to produce more chickens, it’s not really rocket science. However they’re more of an annoyance than anything, as soon as they see daylight, they start waking everyone up. Oh the temptation just to shoot them.
