Fertilizer in seeders pointless

Post by Denhalen »

A lot of seeders have also fertilizer. Although the seeder does deposit the fertilizer on the field, the map info (as well as the info box about the field) doesn't show that it has a new fertilizer stage. You are forced to fertilize afterwards or beforehand. This really beats the purpose of having fertilizer in the seeder. It adds only to the extra usage + the cost of refilling it. And since hired helpers don't seed, without the fertilizer, you can't go without it. Sure, I could do all the fields myself.

I have a feeling it never worked in any of the versions of FS19. Unless you have to wait at least 2 growth stages.

You are doing it wrong. It sure works just fine.
Here is how I do it:
1. Plow (if required)
2. Lime (if required)
3. Fertiziler layer #1 (spread)
4. Cultivate the Lime and Fertilizer into the ground
5. Seed including fertilizer layer #2
6. Spray Herbicide once weed is growing

If you skip #4 above, then the fertilizer in the seeder will not get you the 2nd layer.

The trick is that you can not fertilize (in any way) two times in a row. You must either cultivate between or let the crop grow one stage between.

I usually spread manure after cultivating/plowing = Fert stage 1.

Then direct drill with fertilizer = Fert stage 2.

Works fine for me, but there may be something regarding which kind of fert you use? If you spread solid fert and then drill with solid fert it still counts as one stage?

Personally, I always seed including fertilizer after cultivating (stage 1). Then, after the crops have started to grow, I can apply fertilizers (solid, liquid) again (stage 2) and it works fine.

Same for me. Slurry or manure then drill.

I think the problems is difference between FS17 and FS19.

In FS17 the seeder with fertilizing and direct seeding worked like this: First it cultivated the ground, then it applied the seeds, then fertilizer.
But in FS19 it does not work this way. Basically the direct seeding does not reset fertilization state, but you can do this way in FS19 now:
1. Fertilize
2. Cultivate/Lime/Plow
3. Seed with any seeder
4. Fertilize again, if seeder did not do it.

I have tried fertilize after harvest, then cultivate. But after seeding it stayed on stage #1. Even if I don't fertilize, it doesn't work for me. I plow and lime every time it is required. It must be due to a mod or modded map, that this isn't working. As in the beginning it did work, when I still was doing the original European map.

Not sure if you have a bug or am somehow doing it wrong. I've never had a issue with a seeder that fertilizes not work. It ferts the planting stage then i fert when the field states 50% fertilization state after first stage of growth and im done.

I've always Fertilised/Manure Spread/Slurry Spread after harvesting, then Ploughed or Cultivated the Field, then Seeded or Planted with a tool that also applies Fertiliser and always get the 2nd stage Fertilisation and have no need to do any other fertilising during the whole crop growth stage again.

I herbicide straight after the seeding. Can't use a worker for it since no weeds present, but it stops the weeds died before they show up.

Really that works, that's awesome, I hate waiting for weeds to pop up to get rid of them, never thought of putting down herbicide before they appear.

I use CoursePlay extremely much, it's super awesome and really easy once you get the hang of it. Like go and auto-refill Lime at a lime station once the worker runs out.
