Cleared forest/placeable buildings

Post by JohnDeere77 » Tue Jun 18, 2019 7:55 am

Do I have to do something special to the ground in order to place buildings on land where trees are removed? Stumps is of course removed😊

I normally level the area with terrain tool, then paint it as dirt, as sometimes there are tiny offcuts of timber that prevent placing, doing this makes it easy to find the offcuts

Also occasionally stumps will be grinded to ground level so they are not visible but are actually still there just under the surface, this prevents placing too

Use terrain tool leveling to locate stump, by using increasingly smaller sizes to pinpoint the area that is "red". That's where stump is so try grinding there as low as you can, then check to see if gone using terrain tool again. If its still there then lower terrain a little as close to it as you can then try grinding againg. With a little perseverance you should be able to get rid of it

This one really helps with that issue and is much better as the default ingame stump grinder:

I just assumed the biobeltz grinder was being used. It is the best but sometimes the base game one is needed to get rid of some tricky stumps.

Will you find the hidden stump-leftovers if you plow?

Giants should limit how deep trees can placed to eliminate this problem. Or, once the stump has been grind ed to ground level, remove whatever is beneath the ground.
One more bug or incomplete function that will take years to fix.

Also be careful if you’re building a farm. If you level off the ground perfectly buildings can have a hard time being placed because they “failed land deformation” or something. Which is really stupid because the land it already levelled. Another reason why we NEED place anywhere.
