The rental of the fields is just a 'simulation' of the rental process. It is a random process. As you have seen in a previous post this 'might' change.
There is a lot of useful data that you can use, but it takes a lot of analysis and it will not be for everyone.
Don't forget to use the 'keys' that will give you even more useful data,once FS is running.

One of the first things I did, when starting with this, was to start the game, press the shortcut key (LALT + RU, LALT +RY, LALT RF, LALT +RT). Close FS down.
Now edit the log file so you are only left with the RLN data, print it(about 26 pages). Go and sit down with a coffee a read the data that you have.
That in itself will generate 100's of questions!
You can also use the in game adim console window to look though the data as well. Don't forget to activate it!

What fields provide the best value for money, do I rent or buy
What is the cheapest seed/Fert to buy, how much will I need
What should I set the spray rate to when I am applying liquid fert or herbicide to my wheat field, how much will it cost me for that job

It's all there along with lots of other answers to question you might have, but it will not jump out at you.

I think it bring yet another reality level to FS, but it might not be for you.

As an example have a look at the field 'Usability Ratio' on OakField and compare them to another Farm. Why is OakFields Ratio nearly all the same number(why that number) and other farms may not be that consistent, why

At the moment, you are only charged a rent once. But I got thinking that Seasons provides the concept of a year, and I can use this to nullify the rent agreement at the start of each year.

Kahfs anyone who puts this effort and time into a mod, who am I too disagree with them well done sir/madam. As for modding your work well it sort of does away with what it's all about in my book.

Had been thinking about this when I've been busy at my work :lol:, would it be hard to implement an option to rent or buy the same field in your mod.

The Holzer map is a good example of a map, where some fields are grouped together into one farmland. It makes the purchase cost hard to correlate with the size of the fields. Sorry for the length of this, but in this particular case pressing lAlt-rt is much more useful than pressing lAlt-rf.

From this you can see why field 3 is more expensive than field 21. Field 21 is for rent, while field 3 must be PURCHASED in combination with field 5. I rented fields 6 and 12 in combination because they belong to the same rentable farmland (43).

Also, compare the prices on fields 16 and 17. The areas are the same, but the prices differ slightly. This is because a random number generator adds +/- 5% fluctuation on just about all prices defined in the mod. Next time you load the map, prices will be slightly different.

For me yes. I think it would require a dialog screen. I've avoided HUDs and dialogs, mostly because it typically requires many more lines of code than the core action you want to implement.

I only started programming in LUA when FS19 came out, and had no mods to learn from at that time. Now the situation is different, and I might try and learn this art from more experienced modders. But not before all main features work as solid as they should. The many different fruit types and fill types on multifruit maps have kept me busy, just adding data for everything from Alfalfa to Zucker :biggrin2: .

Yes, the seasons ready version is out (v 1.2)

The lease is only once for now, but kahfs is working on trying to make it yearly, so that will be in a future version, if possible.

I don't know the mod Unit Convert, However, if it converts numbers and units on in-game menues, then this part will work, as my mod does not make menus, but changes prices on items listed in the standard in-game menus.

RealLifeNumbers writes a lot of parameters to the log file, to allow you more insight and better planning abilities. Unit convert will not work on this part.

The data you see for the keys 'ALT + RF', will be in the log.txt. Press them after FS has started. Use the Admin screen to view in game or look at the log.txt

I was thinking.......what if you use the 'contracts' dialog page for leasing/renting the fields. I don't know if you can get access to that part of the game or not but instead of having 'do things' missions, the land owners offer to lease their land to you. The selling of land will stay the same in the vanilla game but renting could take place in the misson's dialog section.

This may work for you better and you don't have to come up with any new dialog pages....aka less coding.

Just a thought.

RLN randomizes it to an extent to simulate that growth is never exactly the same from year to year. Root crops less than 10%, grains up to 20% if I read the manual correctly. The only way the script can do this is between game sessions, but can be turned off in the script if you don’t like it.
I try to start and finish the whole field in one game session if I want to avoid having different start and finish yields.
You can see the expected (current) yield by pressing ALT r+y
