Not doubting you but are you sure that's right? That figure is over 10 hours per day every single day since launch?
Got that figure from steam so I guess so, that said I do leave the game running while I am out teaching and often leave it on when I go to sleep, so I guess it's not actually a true representation of "playing" time.

I was about to say the same. Steam looks at how long the .exe has been active so leaving the game paused for 2 days would show up as 48 hours played. That really skews the numbers. I think I have about 2500 hours on FS19 as well, but like FarmerLee73, I leave it running on the menu or paused for days at a time. Still shows what is currently played tho.
I exit the game if playing other games, so racking up 3000 hours regardless of it running in the background or paused really shows that dedication, or addiction depending on how you see it :)

Hi,

i wonder how many copies are sold outside of Steam. FS is one of the games, where you need to choose if you want a box with all the stuff, or a direct download from Giants... Or a Steam key. So i would assume, that the actual numbers are larger.

I also own FS17 on the Nintendo Switch. That system suits the play style of the FS perfectly: You can put it to Sleep mode with the push of a button and wake it up as easy. You can pick it up for a few minutes in between or for hours on the big screen...

Well, besides PC/Mac on DVD Box, Steam and Direct Download (as you mention) there is also Xbox and PS4. I do believe they account for a very large number, possibly even larger than PC.

I have FS19 on both PC and XB1 but to be honest having played it on PC, trying to play it on XB1 is like trying to play it with only 1 arm... Pointless!

Oh no, they just changed their engine a little bit with fs19, clearly they are good for another 10 years /s

Like others were mentioning total units sold is probably the most fair way to tell how much it’s being played.

The way I understand it is that they need to make a new engine, but that paragraph was satire, hence the /s

Personally I had just 3500 played hours in FS17, and yet for FS19 i have just reached 1000 hrs. Those hours have increased in FS19 purely from the release point of Seasons, Follow Me and other more recent mods.

In relation to the hours calculated for game time, note that Steam will record the time that the .exe is active, so if you have 100hrs left on the menu then that would be added to the time 'played'. Not saying this is necessarily the case for FarmerLee73 but may add to it... also depends on age and work requirements etc...

In any case well played! Now get a life! lol (I need to follow my own advice sometimes)

That's correct, Console players are no small part of the FarmSim community.

I really depends on the country. In the US for example, console players make up like 80% of the players, whereas in Germany, there's more like 50% PC players. So in total, there are way more people playing FS on consoles than on PC. As for the Steam numbers, Steam actually makes up less than a third of our PC sales, whereas most of those top 100 titles in the Steam stats, are Steam only (ie. every PC player of those games is counted in those stats). So Farming Simulator would actually be even higher up in the Steam player stats if all the PC players would be on Steam, probably somewhere in the top 20, rather than the top 50.

As for the time played the gamed, the median time played by player for FS 19 is higher than FS 17 by about 4 hours. The average is still slightly lower than for FS17, which is not really surprising as people didn't have that much time to play FS19 than FS17, it not that far-off though. This tells however, that many people that bought FS19 did spend significantly more time playing the game than FS17, so the game seems to be rather enjoyable (or at least people play it a lot).
