Which tree?

U can get rid of alot of the trees by using the ingame 3point grinder. If u can get a part of it to fall off save the game then go back in it ends up becoming a regular tree u can get rid of I got rid of the trees between 32 and 40 and the trail of trees by 40 and 48
I did the same. Got plans to expand fields to the west too.

Haha there is still a lot I haven't touched... yet. I'm glad you allowed oxygendavid to convert your map. I really enjoy it.

I don't like the fake trees that can't be cut down or all the trees that are sunken into or buried under the map. I've used Giants Editor to remove many of these from my map to make it a bit more bearable to play. Armed with many mods here on PC like the Trex, the Bruks Big Daddy and a few others I was finding not all trees would cut down correctly or be removed and it was just stopping me from being able to expand and combine fields. In my current playthrough I didn't want to own every field on the map, just those closest to the main farm, however I did want to better maximise the land I did own, and sadly the abundance of trees made that a nightmare.

I cut every tree with the trex, you got to find the sweet spot and be patient with it. I'm on console too, so it would be even easier on pc.

That's kind of the problem though Illinois, not sure why it's this map, or whether something got messed up during the convert process and it needs an update or a fix, but a lot of the 'Sweet Spots' or triggers to remove trees aren't located at the tree, but sometimes a distance off to the side of them. This makes finding the spot where the cutters, chainsaws, mods etc will remove a tree a lot more difficult and time consuming and more trouble then it needs to be. Still some trees I came across just would not cut down, even when I removed a lot of the terrain around them with the sculpt tool to get to the trunks, the trees between the two grass field directly right of the farm/cow pen have this problem. Thankfully being on PC I was able to work around this with the editor and in a lot less time then I had wasted trying to cut them down in game and just getting frustrated and shouting at my screen when a tree would resist everything I threw at it to cut it down.

Yeah, it takes a lot of time. I still enjoy the map and the challenge of removing them.

Maybe choose a map that has no trees, no scenery, just fields.

Sounds like it would save you a lot of bother going into GE to get rid of trees.

Personally I prefer a map to have a lot of character with forests, trees and lots of other real world scenery dotted about, rather than just huge fields.

But then we all have our own personal preferences when it comes to playing style.

^^This.

I farm the land I've been given (or bought). I may remove the odd tree but pretty sure mass deforestation to make fields is not usually the way it's done in Europe.

That's the beauty of farm sim. You can play however you want and you see fit. In this case, do what you want.
