Yeah, i think some geos make it difficult. I use base geo as mostly play British maps where seasons Geo were roughly based on. Now you come to mention it, I don't think seen ++ since seasons update.
My rule of thumb is to just mow asap after the (0) before a spell of + and make sure no rain is imminent before the next spell of +. Usually makes the last + of the second phase for me.
Like in real life, just go off and do something else as hay takes ages to make. Of course if you mow wet grass then you WILL need to Ted it.

I haven't messed with hay yet in seasons. I will eventually after I get back from Hawaii.
1300 acre farm, finish out just about 10,000 hogs a year, 200 cattle, and xbox one and pc user.
