Vegetation management - Idea for FS21

Post by dunnjob »

Vegetation management idea:

Any grass area will need to be mowed at least twice a year (so this would require seasons). This would apply only to property owned by the player. If a property is not mowed bushes spring up first. If ignored long enough, trees sprout randomly that require a chainsaw to cut down. This would mean a player would need a Bush Hog (rotary cutter) that cuts grass but leaves none left to collect. This addition to the game would validate the need for 3pt mount mowers and tow behind mowers other than the hay mowers currently in the vanilla game as well as lawn mowers for around houses, etc.

What do you think?

Also if you could graze the area with livestock too, this would prevent it from becoming too overgrown.

Even grazing land has to be mowed at least once a year to keep from being overgrown. (At least here in the Southeastern US). After 5 years without mowing you'd need a bulldozer here.

Here in the UK you do too ... run over with a topper to keep down the nettles and thorn bushes that only goats will eat!

Oh wait ... how about goats too? :)

Twice a year is a bit aggressive in northern climates, In real life we had areas of the farm we would mow once every 5 years or so to keep the trees down which weren't even half an inch in diameter, big tractor mounted mowers can handle a lot.

We mow our waterways, ditches, pastures at least 3 times a year. We mow our hay fields 4 times a year.
1300 acre farm, finish out just about 10,000 hogs a year, 200 cattle, and xbox one and pc user.

Yes, especially on European maps. I've seen some really cool equipment for that.
