Increasing slots in FS 19

Post by livesea72 »

Im going to keep it kinda short, i think 1500 slots would be a decent upgrade without affecting performance much if at all. For the record ive never ran out of slots and most ive used is 1100 but it would be helpful on these maps that start with 800-900 slots. Thoughts, opinion?

I'm sure they tested how much the system can handle and anything past 1299 was too much so I doubt it.

With the new consoles coming out, it'll be interesting to see if that will allow more capacity on the next version of FS. Maybe we'll even get lucky like with FS15, when they made the move from XB360 to XB1, the machine was so vastly improved that the slot count disappeared.

it didn't disappear it was hidden so we couldn't see it like we did in fs 17 and do in fs 19 is all.

Slot is dictated by the console manufacturers as much as it is giants. You want more slots stop begging map makers for things like huge forests and more decorations on maps. Everything counts.
Let's get some cows!
FS17 a few hundred hours on pc, 920 ps4
FS19 2660 hrs ps4/ps5

Dictated as in the manufacturers decide what hardware goes into those systems, yes

Giants doesn't dictate anything. They just show you how much memory is left

It is not only the Slots. There is a Limit for bales and trees. Try to reach all of the Limits and I guess you will see, that there is a logic behind all of them. One Limit for itself shouldn't be a Problem, but Giants has to see the whole Picture...

Slots = Memory.
PC has no slots, but has memory, if you buy too much equipment, the game starts to run very bad, on consoles there is limit to prevent
game run like ***t.

New consoles will be much more powerful and has much more memory, i think the slot count would be doubled or tripled for FS19, but now still depends how much
next FS game is goint to use the slots(memory), so might be that next game would not run on this generation consoles well anymore and will come to next generation only.

Let's just hope that MS/Sony will upgrade the mod space also, 4gb is way too less.

If they could raise the slot count, they would.

Right, but I was attempting to illustrate the fact that there was also a massive increase in available slots to the point where one could buy a much wider variety of equipment and not worry about running out.

Slot counts are a big bummer to be sure, but I’d rather have a really nice map, and have only 500 slots to play with rather than a boring map and 900 slots. As far as equipment goes, something really nice is going to cost you slot count wise. That’s the thing, on console you have to accept the limitations. Most of us know that going in.

You want more slots, play 17. That’s my best solution.

I think you're right, 1500 slots would be a decent upgrade.
However, since they are related to hardware, you'd have to arrange a RAM upgrade with your console maker.

I know stuff like lots of trees and bales really destroy the frame rate. I remember in 17 taking over a week to move about 20 trees due to me cutting down too many at once.it was as close to single digit frame rate as I've ever seen.

Is it the system memory or the Vram that's being used on pc?
