Seasons, food adjusting to number of animals. Why?

A very strange thing is that the food trough is adjusting to the number of the animals in the pen. Not very realistic...
I want to fill up a big trough and know that it will last through the day. Now when I sold off pigs the trough shrank!

Anyone know the thought behind this.

As I understand, that's how it is in the base game as well. It's coded to allow a max fill based on animals daily consumption times however many head you have. This is so you can't just dump a million pounds of food in and forget about it. Keeps you working the animals at regular intervals.

Your only allowed to have enough feed in the trough to last 2 or 3 days. ( varies with number of days in season) based on the number of animals in the pen. Ive been playing 9 day seasons so long now i forget how many days worth of feed the base game allows for.

If it was the other way and you could put in X amount people would be complaining it was to much for there 5 animals and they never needed to feed or to little for their 200 and needed more food every hour.

Could the feeding system be change for fs2? so that rather than limiting the amount of food that can be in the trough, the food begins to spoil after two or three days? Or it could be like bales where it just gradually disappears? I don't play on PC, but there could already be a mod that does this...no idea.
