Something I notice most don't think about when buying a tractor in FS19

Post by cdsang2 » Sat Feb 08, 2020 2:34 am

This is just observation so I realize I can be wrong. Anyway it's the weight of the tractor. The John Deere 6M base with no options, weights about 920KG(2028 LBS) more than the based Case Maxxum, which is part of the reason it cost more. Engine and loader attacher don't add weight. The loader itself does add weight. All tire options affect weight. Narrow tires, less weight, twins, more weight. The Fendt tractor are heavy for there HP ratings as well adding cost. The New Holland T6 seems to be their great little gem due to cost, weight, and HP combination. The New Hollands weight more than their Case counterparts. Yes, this information was taken from the game itself. So why the fuss over more weight? More traction in the field and better control over a loaded trailer. It also affects how well it picks up bales and pallets. The 2000 liter herbicide tank is very heavy. The REA mod may even make this more relevant. Happy farming everyone. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Welcome to the forum!

That's a good observation.

I think you should check the weight though.
My quick search says the 6 series weighs about 11,000 lbs.
I play on Xbox3 (Which they called the "One" for some reason)

He didn’t state the weight itself, but that it’s 2000lbs *more* than the case.

Interesting. When I drive my JD 6r with a big slurry spreader it easily tips over if there is a bump in the ground.

Should I have a weight in front of the tractor to avoid this?

Joskin Modulo 2? I used the NH T7 with wide wheels + 2300kg and it overturns in tight corners. Of course, only if you drive too fast. But that's the physics of barrels with liquid content.

Where is the weight of the tractors found in game. I have been looking for this for some time now?

Tractors with more hp use less fuel for same task but bigger tractors use more, so Im guessing weight matters for fuel consumption. As it looks to mean anything in game its a bit sad its not listed in game.

How I got my weight information was a mod weight scale. I do believe Estancia Lapchco has a weight scale at the BGA. I used the mod to make it easier to collect data as driving from the store to the BGA is very far when driving all the tractors. I did start a spreadsheet collecting information on weight, HP, Cost and calculating cost per HP and Cost Per weight. It's not done yet, however I would post when done if I knew how.

I currently have an OpenOffice spreadsheet made out. Looks like MS Excel. OpenOffice is free. I would like to post it but not sure rules allow me to. Spreadsheet has weight of tractors with Standard, wheel weight, Wide, Wide+Weight, narrow and duals tire options. It also includes cost at base cost and max cost with all or most expensive options except paint changes. It shows cost per HP and cost per weight. I also added a ranking system based on value for best 1 front loader,2 best for plowing, cultivating, and seeding, and 3 transport tractor with speed over 32 MPH. Its somewhat a rough draft but may be useful for some. I can do a google drive link as well if that is allowed.

I think that is ok. Maybe to be safe convert it to a Google Sheet because I have seen other people post Google Docs on this forum.
