need help with mods

Post by Ethan »

I have some problems I need some help with my game seems to be getting generally slower?

FIRST
I have gone a bit overkill with mods and now I have ended up with 937 mods in my mod folder and now I seem to be waiting around 5 minutes for the game to load then about 5 more minutes for my savegame to load I was wondering if there is any way to sort or help me get rid of some of them as I do want to keep some of them.

SECOND
I downloaded an f truck mod and runs fine no errors but take 30 seconds to change setting in-store and slows the game down after I have purchased it? is there any way to optimise it or if it is the mod itself I have tested it with only that mod in my mod folder and still does it.

I am playing on an MSI laptop with a gtx 1060 6g intel i7 7700 2.8ghz 16g ram

Thanks Ethan

Look into the log.txt
It is located in the same directory as the mod folder.

Check for all entries showing error and remove those mods.

If that does not help, you can post the log here to have it checked by more experienced players:

I've noticed the input binding errors caused massive slowdown in my old PC. Usually is a problem with some type of Autoload trailer or something like that. You will need to reset the input bindings to get rid of those errors

For me the input binding problems were being caused by "Autoload pack" - I edited the key bindings in the mod, modeDesc.xml I think, and that seems to have cured it.

I found it worthwhile to reset to a clean state, make my own custom bindings and then make a copy of inputBinding.xml

As far as mods go ... I tend to make a map-specific mod folder for each long-running game I play and make links/junctions to the actual mod files.

When you've got your key bindings sorted make a copy of the xml and put it in a separate folder so you can easily drop a copy in if you have an issue in the future.

I have to routinely delete the shader catch too, though that usually causes weird fail to launch issues rather than slow loading specifically.
