So wondering about hay. Is a person better off to cut it and leave it flat to dry faster or does it make a difference if you put it into a swath and let it dry? Its obviously better to leave it spread out IRL. but does the game know the difference? Before I spend the time and do the test just wondering if someone else has already tinkered with it

With seasons, leave it spread out.
Without seasons, just need to use a tedder.

With seasons, it doesn't make a difference. It only needs good weather and time. Can be spread or rowed. However, if you mow it when the wet crops icon is on, you'll have to ted or it'll never make hay.

I don't know if it makes a difference using a PS4 but I; cut, rake, merge, then bale all on the same day. I only do square bales for straw or hay, don't like the round ones. In real farming there is so much wasted product, about 1/3 of the bale. with the round ones and they require more time to collect and store.

In real life yes, a windrow will take longer to dry out, in FS19 with seasons it does not matter if it is windrowed or not, and for that matter windrow size doesn't change anything.

The attached photo shows a field with some loose and 4 different windrows, from left to right.9.3 meter, 12.5 meter, 4.6 meter and finally 19 meter. Once the field decided to change to hay there were no differences, it all changed at the same time.

Well yeah, your field already changed to hay. You need to test it when it is grass and semi dry.

I think he meant when fed you lose about 1/3. Or could have meant the outside rotting if left outside. But then both of those scenarios depend on conditions applied
