Master Field size list

Post by JTA91 »

I am curious if there is anyone who has made a master list of field sizes in acres per map? As far as I know the only way in game you can find out field sizes is if you do a job for someone on their field and it tells you in the description how many acres it is. Im starting a new save on Welker and I do not know the starting field's size for example, and would like to know without having to mess around buying and selling ground and waiting for a job to pop up.

I can do the work and figure it out, but i think people who want to farm realistically like to know their acres they are doing. Would be great if every field you were in this information would display tillable ground acres in it as you stand there. Also give us a dang BUSHEL option not liters only🤞😂

If I remember right field 2 is around 60 acres. If I get into a map thats exactly what I do, start a map on farm manager and just fast pass time checking contracts. Have only done this on a couple maps. Base game can just google it, someone else has already done the work.
Let's get some cows!

GlobalCompany + Field Calculator will give you a list of all the fields and their areas.

As for bushels, I don't even know what they are. I thought they were some sort of old biblical measure.

It depends ... Imperial bushels are 8 imperial gallons, or 36.368 litres, whereas US bushels are 8 US dry gallons, or 35.239 litres (or liters!)

On field sizes there's this ..

but only for PC and only if the map modder has gone through the tedium of setting the fieldDefs

Or in GE, there's a fieldSizes script that lists them all.

Are bushels used ANYWHERE other than America, does anybody know? Always sounds very old fashioned, like how people used to measure everything in 'chains'.

Well when trading with other countries, it is anyways reported in bushels and tons. Haven't dealt with chains, but I have dealt with rods when measuring.

Bushels were used in Europe but are generally replaced by litres, or tonnes.

Fair enough. I know US Customary units are their own thing. Growing up here I never had any contact with American farmers, and the only place I heard bushels used was in the bible, so it surprised me a little.

There is a tread on this forum somewhere, where the field sizes for the default maps are listed.
From last winter I think.
