Should resetting cost money ?
It's all to easy to simply "reset" equipment in farming simulator, with generally no effort to recover vehicles etc.
IMO there should be a resetting or "recovery" fee, in the range of say €1000 to €2000.
Could a script be written for this ?, does o mod already exist?
What are your thoughts?

Might be modable / map specific currently? Playing Lone Oak Farm recently I realized resetting my tractor set my maintenance level to 0 (as though I'd had an accident I guess... which I had!). Cost me nearly $1000, twice. Don't see that happen on every map.

Depends. If I'm resetting because I messed something up, then, yes, it should.
If I'm resetting because the game messed up (hired worker, wonky physics) then I feel we should get a freebie.

Had the same thing happen on Welker when I was resetting tractors to change the toggle order. Both my Brutes went to 0% and the paint went to full wear, and 2 of my 240 series combines (incidentally both the 8240's) went to 0% and my 7240 went to about 5%. Paint didn't change on the combines, but then again there doesn't really seem to be a dirt or wear map on them.dogwalker1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 9:07 pm Might be modable / map specific currently? Re: Should resetting cost money ?
This happens if you buy used equipment or modify the age in the easy dev controls. Or probably if you own the equipment it's entire useful life (60 hours maybe?). Not sure why.dogwalker1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 9:07 pm Might be modable / map specific currently? I kind of like it tho, it's the downside to buying used equipment and really makes it a toss up by the time you reset it a few times.
Re: Should resetting cost money ?
Reset -> Maintenance 0 has happened on several maps. I thought this was a Seasons thing (haven't played without it for a looong time)?
Re: Should resetting cost money ?
It does in basegame doesn't it?
Re: Should resetting cost money ?
When FS19 first came out, when you reset any vehicles in the game, it set their Fuel to minimum, meaning you had the cost of refuelling the vehicle as a penalty for resetting it. However many people seemed to complain about that and subsequently in one of the early patches Giants released they changed it, so vehicles didn't lose their fuel. Seemed a bit strange to remove the punishment/penalty players received for bad driving and behaviour in the game.

Not as part of the base game:
1) the game physics are too bad and the player would be punished for those issues
2) the base game doesn't have autodrive, so the player is punished with the time it takes to get from the reset point back to the field/farm/etc.

Re: Should resetting cost money ?
The maintenance drop when resetting is caused only when using seasons. I figured it out playing Lone Oak and doing contracts. Kept borrowing the equipment and resetting to the farm and I thought I was getting worn out loaners. After some testing I figured out it was dropping after I reset them. Its a seasons issue as far as I can tell because after finding that out and doing some resetting without seasons I could not duplicate the issue.
Re: Should resetting cost money ?
Well, store deliveries does add a delivery fee, so i'm pretty sure it's possible to make a mod that adds in a recovery fee

But if it is Seasons causing it, it does not cause it all the time. For example it was happening to me on Lone Oak, but not on Ravensberg. On both maps I had purchased the equipment in question new, it wasn't loaners or used equipment. It wasn't due for maintenance either - I had just repaired it recently.

Re: Should resetting cost money ?
When I had identified the problem I tried it on a couple different maps with seasons on and off no other mods and that was the difference each time. I also tried it with bought equipment and contract loaners. Both had the same result, maintenance drop with Seasons. Maybe there is more to it, that is just what I found in my testing efforts.dogwalker1 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 2:56 pm But if it is Seasons causing it, it does not cause it all the time.
