I haven't played sandy Bay, but I would think you buy calves, feed them milk, corn, etc. Then they will eventually grow bigger and you should be able to sell them around 700 lbs or finish them out to about 1400 lbs.
1280 acre farm, 3300 hogs, 200 cattle, and xbox one user and pc user.

But yeah can anyone explain this to me? Or do they grow into full blow dairy cows or do you buy them cheap, feed them, and sell them at a high price or what

Re: Chellington Calves
Do the calves grow from smaller ones, and like Illinois farmer said, you feed them milk and corn to grow them out to a saleable weight?
Or do you buy them at a smaller weight, then grow them out, like feeder calves and then sort them into steers and heifers?

I'll just say I'm from Australia
Let's say thanks to all modders for the mods that they create.
If you can't find it, grind it.
If it ain't blue and white, it just ain't right

Re: Chellington Calves
on S B you had to use a container mod to get milk from your dairy cows to feed the calves. At some point you would sell them but I never got that far, and never tried it with seasons. also don't know if any of the buy anything mods support milk. Console they didn't magically grow into adults but maybe pc has that script.

I assume when you say container mod you mean milk tankers in general?

this one. not to say it's the only thing that would work, but that mod was released at same time as Sandy Bay. For console anyway.

Re: Chellington Calves
No PC script as far as I know, and I doubt Seasons has compatibility for it since calves are a completely different animal type when defined in Oxy's maps. So it's just cows keep to cows and calves keep to calves unless someone has some lua and xml in their pocket to make this happenCowsGoMoo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 3:32 amon S B you had to use a container mod to get milk from your dairy cows to feed the calves. Re: Chellington Calves
On sandy bay it was just a matter of buy them as calves, feed them and sell them when they were bigger ( but still calves). They didn´t become cows.
I used them for role play purposes though. when my cows reproduced, the offspring (i wont call them calves here to avoid confusion
) stayed with their moms a couple of days. after that i sold them and bought the same number of calves. the calves remained there until they reached the weight you buy the cows at normally and then i sold the calves again and bought the equal number of cows. doing this did cost some money since i had to pay transport costs twice, but i considered that to be the vet costs
I did this just for the girls, since you cant buy male holsteins
