Really? Is that called for or necessary?

Post by DEERE317 »

What is it with people all of a sudden posting a bunch of threads to whine complain about everything GIANTS does? Especially when all the posts are popcorn or Je deteste GIANTS. (“I strongly dislike GIANTS”) and then don’t offer any constructive feedback...
It’s hard for them to fix anything when no one says anything useful. Also can we let GIANTS and modders work out problems on their own without immediately jumping on the bash GIANTS band wagon?
Rant over and a mod can lock if so desired.

I did offer constructive feedback called making a blanket statement. Get out in front of it. Didn't you just contradict yourself by making a post on the subject without putting any useful right into it. Also popcorn is really good and a farmable crop.

My constructive criticism: let GIANTS and the modders work it out. They have the closest to the full story (both sides will only say what benefits them most) and when the community runs into one of these occurrences it is usually only knowing what the modders told them.
Like the Christmas fiasco, GIANTS told them and they (modders) told the community about it later (either intentionally or just how timing worked out) and everyone immediately jumped to the conclusion that GIANTS was using holiday to avoid responding to backlash. Meanwhile that event would’ve been much more civil if we the community had just said “is that so GIANTS/modders?” And then let them work it out.

I also like popcorn. Just not as the bulk of forum posts on another topic... definitely hilarious though.

I think the problem here is that Giants is not working it out, at least with OD. The mod testers essentially said stop wasting their time to him.

It definitely doesn’t help when we all immediately start in on “never buying again” or one I read of “hope they always fail” when we just have to let them try to work it out, we have no clue how GIANTS internal reaction has played out or the circumstances inside their office. So let’s let them attempt to come to their own conclusions and if either side is uncooperative then that’s when we start in, but currently I expect their lack of response might be in part because everyone will jump on them and eat them alive no matter how they respond (short of letting the communities will be fully had)
OxygenDavid messed up a few things with permissions and coding, and GIANTS has messed up (a lot) with communication/testing (so both are guilty and we must be careful to not have double standards with mod theft). They need to figure out some way to communicate their side without “airing the dirty laundry” or else stuff like this will be more common in the future.

I wonder how in tune the testers are with the community, it’s a possibility that as far as they know he’s just an annoying small time modder. (Just because they’re part of the Dev team doesn’t mean that they’re a fan of the series/into the modding community)

This right here. This is why I said they need a blanket statement. The Christmas eve fiasco would have been avoided at least not as much blame on giants, like it is just cause they are American stuff. Also this fiasco, just communicate with oxy write him back and if they did make a public statement. We have been in contact with a modder about certain maps. No details, no names, nothing, just blanket. Principals do it all the time in schools too when people get in trouble.

YES!!! (Probably on here and not their social media as that would definitely be pushing airing the dirty laundry line) Otherwise it’s probably best to discuss our thoughts (annoyed, fine, etc) and keep from lashing out at GIANTS like so many of us do. Painfully though that’s a fine line to walk.

This is multiple times that I've read this, there was nothing on Christmas eve other than childish gobshite modders waiting to release the news then, they were banned 3 or 4 days before

But if they told the modders what they did months ago when they did it and not hiding it until a few days before Christmas, it would have been totally avoided.

The were banned before Christmas but with held that news and then it seems like GIANTS had told them then. A simple, “A handful of modders have been suspended indefinitely today (may or may not be lifted) from the Modhub over allegations of using cracked DLC parts.”
No dirty laundry aired of names or specifics but we know something happened. And no one can claim that they banned modders on Christmas Eve then either.

Do you really think they saw it/had it reported and waited until they were on leave? Don't be ridiculous

I don’t think GIANTS knew until shortly before Christmas.

Giants banned them before Christmas according to Alagos, but they waited to make their comments. If giants would have made a statement when they banned them, then a lot of anger towards giants would have been gone.

Even worse, they out of the blue decided to ban the modders months after Giants testers approved the mods with the stolen parts.
