To be honest boycotting the game and future titles is a little extreme in my book. As others have said I don’t think it’s going to make the slightest iota of difference, people are still going to play it regardless well it certainly won’t for me, yes it’s sad we lost oxy but life still goes on. It’s a game a lot of people will enjoy mods or no mods. I played fs15 with no mods still enjoyed it though. I would suggest letting things run there there course and see what happens.

Yes and people that do only play the game for a month or so then quickly move on to something ells. And are far less likely to buy the next version knowing it will be more or less the same thing, most people see FS19 as more of a downgrade than an upgrade. If it was not for the Mods this game would be dead and buried by now.

Most of the player base who isn’t into the community and only play for a short while will buy the next game because “ooh, shiny new game and fancy new machines” and also FS19 is much better in a lot of ways, like the place able system (minus some not being able to place problems) and landscaping are leaps ahead of 15 and 17. The game engine IMO is much more fluid than 15/17 and handled detail better by default. (I do play with seasons so colors change, but how it renders detail and reflects light isn’t changed. And I happily existed using primarily base game equipment one Westbridge Hills for a year.
Mods improve on a very good game engine/base game but the game as is holds itself up very well to the vast majority of it’s probably on excess of 40,000,000 copies. I would estimate that 5,000,000 of those are enthusiasts who pay no attention to Facebook pages or forums, just play and watch YT lets plays. And maybe 1 or 2 mil out of that 5 are enthusiasts who pay attention at all to any modders FB. So those who actually care about any of this are minute portion of game sales.

I feel like it's important to note one thing. It's 2021. "I'm no longer subscribing to your services" lost it's luster in like...the 90's. Everyone knows saying you won't be buying their product is: 1. an empty threat, and 2. useless. As much as you may think your refusual to spend 4.99 on a potato DLC in "solidarity for Oxy" will make giants shake in their spaceboots....it will not.

I love Oxy, and I too feel he provides the best maps for the Farming Simulator series, but I do feel like there are 3 sides to every story....and very often you don't get to hear the 3rd side, which is most likley the actual truth. I'm sure there were wrongs on both sides of the coin.

Life happens. It's tough. It's to short to hold grudges. I promise in a couple months none of this will matter and all of you guys threatening to never buy an FS game or DLC again will still be enjoying the game with the rest of us.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Most of us will forget this ever happened by the next release, and I think we all are still playing the game and will continue to.

Considering that the majority of people do not use mods and that the sale numbers keep increasing with every new release, despite people predicting doom and gloom, I must politely disagree. I've been a part of this community for over a decade now and I have seen all of this before many times now, including the doom and gloom predictions. As great as mods are, many people overestimate their importance in the bigger picture. This is especially overestimated when people predict what impact one modder leaving will have on the future. It *censored* and it's sad, especially for the younger fans who idolise the modders and the older ones who form relationships with these people through forums and other forms of social media. We have lost many great people over the years and many great mods. People will leave and new people will come around. This is the cycle that has been going for many years and will continue to do so.

As Seb said modders leaving isn’t a new phenomenon and it’s been happening for years, new ones step up and prove themselves as capable modders and then eventually leave modding themselves.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who smells BS with a giants employee making out everything will be fine

Will the franchise crash? absolutely no
Will player numbers drop? probably not
But look at the growing numbers playing candy crush or making tiktoks - it doesn't mean it isn't trash

Did i miss something? The only reply was from Chris, saying its between Giants and Oxy?

and weird to compare it with Candy Crush or TikTok, when obviously those are still growing and people love it. Just not you. Same with the FS and where it is going. Thats life...

everyone who is part of the FS journey knows, modders will leave and new modders will rise.

Well said however the casual fs without good mods is not exactly trash. Its just boring to ppl that are into agriculture. Its fun to kids which i think is the primary target group for giants. Anyway they are splitting parts with FOCUS now they are going to selfpublish which also implies that all of their ears and eyes will be focused at manufacturers. Modding community is already slowly but surely being neglected by giants and the prime example is the oxy situation

Is theSeb the one who works for Giants or is that one of the others in Realismus?
He is also a modder for the one mod I don’t think play without, Seasons.
