We feed our dairy cattle corn silage, alfalfa haylage and/or triticale haylage, feeder hay, then ground corn, some DDG, canola meal, and straw. Most of those components being unavailable in the basegame

AJ, I hate to be “that guy” but is there a possibility you can make the modded hay silo able to accept corn as well? The stand alone version of the silo that’s by itself on the ModHub? If not it’s you can tell me to go pound salt or something else.

Can’t say I’ve heard of a concrete stave silo being used for grain. Have heard of Harvestore’s being converted though.

Check out a video called “raising the silo unloader” from farming fixing & fabricating on YouTube. It’s ground corn feed, but I can’t grind corn on console.

Think I’ve seen that vid before, was being used for feed, not grain (yes I know it was grain, but was converted to feed, not being hauled to the elevator)
Edit: after a quick read it’s possible to put (shelled dry) grain into them but has a mile long list of downfalls and is similar cost to a bin apparently.

@DMZ Commander- There is no manure buying station on map just selling station
@chedly_farms- I can easily add corn or any fill type to stand alone silo. The only dilemma is the one shipped with the map would/should require map update or may otherwise confuse some peeps on which one to use, so let me think about it. I'm not against it for realism sake as I believe we all know the game is far from a realistic simulator and more of a sandbox, cant wait to make some cakes in 22 :lol: . Now go pound some barley hops.

To all you Deere lovers, I thought I should share this.
We were blessed with having one of are local antique club members bring out his extremely rare 1of1 37' John Deere Centennial D to celebrate Vanderburgh County's 100th fair. The Gold- Leafed tractor was originally used by John Deere to Celebrate there 100th anniversary in 1937. It then was given to a dealer in Oklahoma for selling some of the most JD's that year and thru the years ended up in our neck of the woods.

Very cool! I'm still loving this map. Quick question- is there any way to deal with the seemingly uncuttable saplings and smaller trees around some of the northern fields ? I've tried several forestry machines as well as hand tools, and nothing seems to work.

@wheelmansteve
Sorry, unfortunately there is no way to cut them. When I created the map I rescaled hundreds of trees for variety. It would be a lot of work to rescale them even using notepad++. Changing the trees also would require new save to work properly so its out of the question. I have sense learned of the ill effects of rescaling and when I port the map to FS22 this will be changed (all cuttable) as I believe all the trees will need replaced anyway.

PC Only-The Map Objects Hider mod could possibly work ,but from my understanding removes all objects that are grouped together. So you may end up removing lots of trees that are grouped together unintentionally. I used tree groups to add the trees. You can use Giants Editor to remove them for safer result.

For now we pretend the local bureaucrats have strict policy on certain tree removal to protect the bigfoot habitat.

Speaking of porting maps, there was a thread I was reading and some people thought porting maps was not good because it never looks as good as current game version. I assure you when done properly most maps can be fully ported with all current game aesthetics and features. Case in point, I original created Griffin Indiana for FS17 but never released it. If you notice there are buildings from FS17 and FS15, changes to lighting and shaders and boom you have FS19 looking buildings. Same with ground and crop textures ect...

I have learned to scout out paths to cut through the trees to avoid anything uncutable to avoid those smaller saplings. The only weird issue I have found after that is is that certain trees will drop through the map when I cut branches and whatnot. So I just use one of Blacksheeps many tree erasing machines to avoid that now. But I have had a lot of fun clearing paths to fields that I have purchased on the northern end of the map.

Ched, I'm with you. I'm the Hay Baron of Posey County. Just trying to expand some of those upper map fields- I love the feel of the northern areas, and don't want to clear cut, just pick up a row or two around the edges. Should I change my name to Haymansteve?
